Smiling John L Smith (Arkansas Interim HC, former Spartan screwin' it up)

Not sure about that one... they need some defenders first. If Dantonio was still there coaching and recruiting, I think John L would have been fine (more of a 3/4 loss coach). They need a DC as much as anything.

Note the word "staff". A new HC may likely bring in some of his staff from his current or previous gigs. I wouldn't be surprised to see more than one axe fall after JLS' replacement is on board...

I wonder if the university had a meeting with JLSmith that went like this:

MSU: You're fired.
JLS: I quit!
MSU: We already fired you.
JLS: I quit!
MSU: You're fired.
JLS: I quit!
MSU: You're fired.
JLS: I quit!
MSU: You're fired.
JLS: I quit!
MSU: You're fired.
JLS: I quit!
MSU: Let's settle this like adults.
JLS: I quit!
MSU: Let's settle this with three rounds of rock-paper-scissors.
JLS: I quit!
MSU: Ugh. Fine.. let's settle this with a coin toss.. do you want heads or tails?
JLS: I quit!
MSU: FINE!!! You quit. Now get the hell out of here!
JLS: I quit!
MSU: You're a jerk.
JLS: I quit!
MSU: We're going to lunch. Later, loser!
JLS: I quit!
(Everyone leaves.)
JLS: Yeah.. I so won that one.

Re: "The university will buy out the remaining two years on his contract, which will be somewhere between $3.2 million and $4 million."

I would of like to have been fired with that compensation package.

Hmmmm. . .. .

I say Ron English. I wonder what his relationship is like with Carr. You have to suffer with Jim Hermann as your boss for a couple of years. He could not be any different from Hermann in coaching philosophy. You finally get fed up and leave for the Bears. Then Carr is forced into firing Hermann and you get the job that you have been pushing for. I bet that's a fairly cold coaching room.

Not sure about that, character is what is lacking from that program. They have no heart, and until they bring in a coach who will bring discipline and tenacity to East Lansing........things will never change. They've been this way for a very long time.

Bobby Bowden to MSU? "I think it is a daggum good league year end and year out. It may be too cold for these here old bones to take. It would be interesting to see how them Northerners live up in that there cold."

Whoa, now that I think about it, I wouldn't be able to let my son at Climpson kick my ass every year up there.

Isn't that the location of the off switch for the Stepford Coach 1.0.1 model?

Perhaps he's just shagged out from the flight from the fjords.

The play calling in the 2nd half of the Notre Dame game should be the basis for a clinic on how to blow a huge lead.
