I really want to try it out and a guy who is in the Military reseves told me he would take me jumping. I have heard so much about the rush, but I have one downside of jumping. My best friend was killed in 91 after he jumped 36 times. His shoot failed to open and he didn't have enough time to open his secondary. RIP DAG
Here is a link I hope this don't happen when I do my first jumpsky diving

There are always risks involved in skydiving. Just don't be screwing around up there. Always be aware of and respect the hazards and you should be fine. It's usually when somebody gets too comfortable and let's their guard down that something goes wrong. Sorry about your friend.

Yeah it definitely sucks to be that dude.

I have never been skydiving but my friend is going for his birthday on May26th and invited me to go, I haven't decided to or not yet never really thought about it before.

Jumped once. Climbed out on the wing and when the guy said said jump, I had an extremely hard time getting my fingers to let go. You're supppose to check out your chute to make sure that it's completely open and that there's no tangled lines, well, I was happy when I saw at least half of it was open. Figured if there was a problem, I'd just panic and die anyways.

When I started to look around, I couldn't find the landing pad. Thought I'd be lost and have to walk for miles with that stinkin heavy chute. Then I heard this loudspeaker directly below me. The bummer was I couldn't do any turns or I'd miss the target area. It was a cool but I didn't feel the short ride was worth all the prep and fear that went into it.

I jump at Cleveland Sport Parachuting it's a hell of a rush. I highly recommend it, just pay attention to your instructor and don't go with a hang over. My daughter is going to jump in 3 years for her 16th birthday present.

Kent state buck I have the AIR ASSAULT wings not the AIRBORN. Wasn't in long enough to get all the schools I wanted.

My one and only jump was a tandem jump up on the northwestern part of Oahu (town called Mokuleia) back in July, 2000. We free fell from 9400 feet to around 5000 feet (going through a small cloud during the freefall, which was cool as shit), and then rode the canopy down from there. One of the best $130 I've ever spent...

My best friend and I jumped right before we started college. I was the first in our group to do the actual jump. There was no freefall to it as it was a static line, but still quite the rush. Once the fog of my goggles cleared the first thing I saw was a huge swamp under me. Fortunately, I drifted and landed on dry land. The landing was pretty sad because my legs had fallen asleep due to how they had me sit in the plane on the ride up. Fun time, but I have never done it again.

Oh no, not the bullwinkle wings

I don't know but I've been told
Airborne wings are good as gold

I don't know but it's been said
Air Assault wings are made of lead

J/K I've allways enjoyed the friendly rivalry between the Airborne and Air Assault. I'm told that Air Assault school is a bitch to get through. I haven't gotten my chance at it, yet.

I've got your bullwinkle Kentstatebuck. You are right about the rivalry between the two schools. I would even compare its intense disrespect for one another to a Hatfield/Mccoy-like atmosphere. But at the end of the day we're all soldiers. Most are AIRBORNE, then you come across those special few that dare to excel and put their lives in the hands of shitty helo pilots. Those few, my friend, are the AIR ASSAULT. High speed baby.

Oh you want to talk about shitty pilots. I think the Air Force relegates their worst pilots to flying missions for the Airborne. Anyone who has ever asked the question as to why us yard darts would jump out of a perfectly good airplane have never flown in an Air Force plane.

I jumped for my bachelor party out in Richmond IN, and it was amazing. I will say that after the first day of training and simulator, and classes I was pissed. Out there for 9 hours and nothing to show for it. Then we went back the next day and was the best thing since my son being born. I loved it and I want to go again, just haven't found the time or money. I will also say that you really need to pay attention during instruction and ask questions. As you know it is your life you are dealing with. I will say that I had a bad landing in the I came in wrong and remember hearing the instructor tell us not to pull the cords too hard when you get so low as to not make a pendulum out of myself and smack my skull on the ground. Came out with a couple of asphalt burns on my hands, and knees. Slid head first across the runway. It was incredible though.
