it was the PSU equivilant of scUMLite in '98 for us...
except for the fact that Minny had a 4th and forever, and the ball was tipped, and fell into a different Minny player's hand, and Minny went on to score the game winning TD. Basically, it was the Gopher version of the Immaculate Reception, and it was a HUUUUUUGE upset... the Nits went in the tank for the rest of the year... and the year after that... and the year after that... and the year after that... then they had a decent year... then they went in the tank again...

actually it was a game winning FG over the out-stretched hands of Lavar Burton, I mean, Arrington, but other than that, your story is right.

I think the most interesting thing here is that Santonio Holmes is not in the top 10. I still think Holmes is the best reciever in the country...hard to leave him out of the top 10 in the conference if that's the truth.

Iowa has to play AT Ohio State, which certainly must mean it's harder than ours, since we only have to play Iowa.
But we have to go to the Big Toilet, while the weasels go to Iowa. So that pretty much evens that out.

I don't think it's feasible to say they won't be back. Hell, if Cal, Kansas State, Oregon State and Iowa can put together runs of top 25 teams, then certainly Penn State can again. Now a legitimate question set is whether Joe can bring them back, and if not, how long will it take a new coach to do so, and how many new coaches/seasons will it take. But I do think they'll be back eventually.

Whoever goes to PennState next is going to have their work cut our for them, JoePa's decline has done serious damage, want proof? Look at the teams that used to suck in their area now making huge strides because PennState cant out recruit them anymore

VaTech
Virginia
(PennState used to be everyone in virginia's favorite team, just drive through there and look at all the PSU license plates)

Louisville
Pitt
even BC...

right now everyone one of those schools who used to be a doormat is outrecruiting pennstate to the Penn talent.

That simply is because of the Coaching. The old ways of JoePa and his views dont work like they used to, they arent a perennial power that can scoop up anyone. With the coaching change at Pitt (Wanstedt is a NICE attraction), the rise of Louisville - becoming a top football/basketball schools the past couple years and even BC's new league change is an attraction worth checking out. Penn St. needs to change out the old and realize the gold mine of players that are sitting on in PA.
