No but vacated wins or probation wont kill any one.
Plenty of people get DUIs without killing anyone, but that wasn't my point.

Getting a DUI, soliciting a hooker, etc. only really affects the individual player. Multiple players selling things given to them by the school and then having the coach cover it up will probably end up with bad things happening to the entire program.

Why not display them prominently in the WHAC until their eligibility is done? That accomplishes the goal of not being able to sell them while they're still in school, and it displays them in a better way than the individual players probably would.

They're not being punished. Not getting the trinkets isn't a punishment.

It is if they want them.

I'd be fine with this as well.

How about a meeting as soon as they enroll, and have compliance give a short "Don't sell your [Mark May] or you and tOSU will be in trouble!" speech?

Done.

If they wind up selling stuff, it's not because they need to, it's because they want to. See Tank Black and the greedy fucks who put the Gators at risk in the 1990s. They knew about agents. They were just greedy. Poetic justice was that he stole their money.

Would a meeting really be necessary at this point?

I don't see what problem it causes by holding on to the gold pants or championship rings for a few years if they aren't allowed to sell them. It's not like anybody ever wears them.

Yes, treat them like the adults they are... and let them all understand that they will be treated like adults if they break the rules.

Fuck, I still want to punch someone in the ball sack over this... still not sure who... but that's because the list is growing.

Which was my point. They know all about the importance of the pants/rings, and of the improper nature of selling them. So don't punish guys who earned them and honor them because a few guys don't.

Give them the awards as they earn them.

Then make the player account for the items to get his degree.

Not a bad idea - but I think that should they have to show all the items to be in their possession at the end of their eligibility in order to continue to work out at the WHAC and be included in tOSU's Pro Day.

Because of two reasons - they're free to sell stuff right after their last bowl game, and not everybody plans to graduate. And the ones that don't plan to graduate would probably be guys whose stuff would have the highest market value.

I think being persona non grata at the WHAC would be an effective means of discouraging guys from selling stuiff, in addition to wanting to not break the rules and potentially damage the program.
