Either that or the attempted joke "that wasn't funny" would never have been said in the first place.

Sure DIDN'T...if it is subjective, then some people will find it funny, and some people won't. I imagine if one posts a comment/joke, one is looking for a reaction. Don't see why posting either reaction is more or less valid than the other.

Someday, someone will construct a proper treatise outlining the subjectivity of humor. People will read it, and hopefully (I've got my fingers crossed, Freddy!) that will be the end of the "That isn't funny," routine.

TBS is already implementing just such a system.
