Serious Car Question...

One caveat if you try to replace the rotors yourself: you may not be able to get them off. I've been replacing the pads on my brakes for years but the one time I tried to replace the rotors I couldn't get the old ones off. I tried hitting them with the heaviest stuff in my garage but no luck. And I don't own a sledgehammer. So I took them to a shop and had them do the job for $150. It was a rip-off but I had no choice.

Not to Grammar Nazi Jonathan-- And I'm very glad his friend is doing it for him... but I think a rule of thumb, if you go back to the original post is... if you can't spell rotor... you shouldn't change a rotor. (Plus its hard to say its easy if you haven't seen it... )

I cant believe I just read this. I dont give a shit what you refused, the fronts failing again has NOTHING to do with the condition of the backs. The only common mechanical element between the two is the brake fluid, so short of fluid draining from the backs, which you would notice immediately because you wouldnt be able to stop, there is no way the backs cause the fronts to fail. They fucked up the fronts, no question. With that logic, you could just as easily turned it around on them - that them fucking up the fronts caused the backs to fail. I would have sued their asses for both repairs, esp after I was fed BS like that.

Their arguement was that the backs weren't helping the fronts causing them to wear faster :shake:

I knew it was BS but I didn't have the time or $$ to fuck with a lawsuit. I just took it to the dealer I bought the car from, they went after restitution. I don't know if they ever got it, didn't really care, they didn't charge me to fix them.
