  • Consider registering! Fewer and higher quality ads, no emails you don't want, access to all the forums, download game torrents, private messages, polls, Sportsbook, etc. Even if you just want to lurk, there are a lot of good reasons to register!
I would not anticipate the U.S. being on the leading edge of autonomous vehicle implementation. A place like Singapore with high population density and a compliant population will most likely be the first to get serious about it. Fleet long haul trucking and delivery vehicles will likely be first, cabs next, and then private vehicles. The end result, fifty years from now, may well be a prohibition on private ownership of on-road motor vehicles with autonomous on call vehicles operated via one or more federal or state public-private partnerships. Whether they're paid for via user fees or become a "right" paid for through taxes is TBD.
