Season Tix for Men's BBall Available

Don't expect a full house for any of the BCA classic games. I was looking on eBay and saw pairs of seats for $0.99 +$10 shipping going unsold. Someone else is selling sets of 4 tickets starting at $0.99 with $5 shipping.

Yeah they are all crappy seats in the last few rows, but those tickets are $18 each from the ticket office.

Not sure where to start here.

I can't just blame the problems on the students. I was at both games.

Yes the students werent here, but the tickets were not sold in the student packages, and alot of students probably didnt even know there was an exhibition game.

Then there are the people with the PSL who have tickets to these games as they have to buy them in their season packages. Well have of them werent there. The lots where they park were freakin' empty as can be.

I know that it is exhibition but watching these people sit on their hands is pathetic. The band plays the fight song or Hang on Sloopy and you would think that it was not normal to stand up and do the OH-IO b/c people actually doing it look out of place.

Hell the Walsh fans today were louder than our fans. I still don't even know where that school is.

I am so glad that the students at least get to be behind both baskets this year. Hopefully they will be loud and cheer. We need to have some sort of home court advantage, but at this time you might as well bring a preacher and have him give a church session while the game is going on. I think Bucky Katt would have no problem hearing them at the top.

The only time the crowd made any kind of noise today was when they were throwing the free t-shirts up in the crowd.

I really hope we can just chalk this up to being an Exhibition game.

Without a doubt. From my seats, I could hear the players calling out screens. Really freakin' quiet in there.

I didn't know that the exhibitons weren't included in the student-ticket packages. I apologize for the somewhat snippy remark about them.

Yeah the students could either get a ten game package, or they split them up into 5 games and they could buy one or the other.

They were the 8 home big ten games and 2 non-conference games, so look for a couple of the other non-conference games to be dead when the students arent there.

But those games when the students are there should be rocking. I have already mentioned this but the student tickets increased from 1700 to 6300 this year. Quite a hike.

Don't know which games you've looked at on e-bay, but certain tickets to the BCA Classic aren't even for the Buckeyes which might account for such low prices (and very likely, very low attendance).

Games 1 & 2 are IUPUI vs. Alabama A&M and Kent St. vs. South Dakota St., and I think those tix are selling at the OSU ticket office for $15 plus a $1 handking fee.

Games 3 & 4 are Loyola (Chicago) vs. Princeton and Ohio State vs. VMI, and those tix are selling for $23 - $28 plus a $1 fee (I think). And if you click on the "best available" link, much better seats are available for the games that OSU is not playing (or expected to play) in...i.e., games 5 & 6 are the losers bracket games from the first 4 games ($15) and games 7 & 8 is the winners bracket games ($23 - $28).

So while I'm sure it still won't be a sell-out for the games OSU is playing in (and my family and I were at the Walsh game, so put me down for adding 4 to the support group :wink2: ) don't confuse the e-bay tix selling for .99 cents with games that tOSU will actually be playing (or expected to play in).

Hmmm....well, I'm not an "ebay guy" (never bought anything) so I'm not completely familiar with the workings of the site, and I only glanced at the 'posts' offering the tix you were refering to.

And while the evening sessions would be the ones where OSU will be playing (as in the descriptions of those tickets) and .99 cents or anything near that price would be a great value for any seats to see the Buckeyes... I did also notice that there were tickets to a Saints vs. Redskins game and a Lakers vs. Memphis game in a similar format showing a starting bid price of .99 cents and $1.25 respectively.

Seems unlikely to me that tickets would be sold to those events (as for the OSU BCA matchups)for anywhere near that price. I wonder if there is some sort of 'reserve' (I think that's the proper term) set that unless a particular threshold is met in the bidding, then the tix would go unsold...just my 'uneducated' guess. (I don't know)

Then again, I guess if you have tickets but don't intend to use them, anything you sell them for is more than you'd get from 'letting them go to waste'.

Good point. Maybe those six in the front row where all that heard about it.

Students bought tickets for this game just like everyone else, so there was no student section therefore they were just casual watchers like the rest of the people in the crowd.

Not really sure you want to rip the students, b/c I have been to football games without the students and block O set up and the crowd was pretty quiet.

I think with a higher number of students and behind both ends and then scatter in the upper bowl the crowd overall will be much better than it has been. Hopefully the people in the lower bowl will do more than clap after a made basket.

I was very surprised at the lack of students so I made a concerted effort to find them using my binoculars. Admittedly I got distracted from time to time in my efforts, but there honestly could not have been more than 100 or so. And that does not mean I counted 100, I counted maybe a dozen. I am cutting some slack here.

I am really trying to let this issue go, but it is very emotional for me. The place was only half full, but if the students showed up in that proportion relative to their ticket sales for the regular season there still should have been 3500 or so.

After buying tickets for 29 years and finding myself in the honest to God last row of the arena I think it is fair to ask what the folks who chased me from my old seats are doing on a Sunday afternoon.

It will become easier when I watch the student section help us pull out a close one at home.

Hopefully they have heard about the tournament this weekend.

I know what you are saying, but the thing is the students were not offered these games in the forms of their packages and don't even think these games were offered seperate. Therefore the student sections are sold to regular public for these games.

I don't remember what games are in teh ten game package, but I know that it was the 8 big ten games and 2 non-conference games.

I know this is just my opinion, but I think it is worse for people with the actual tickets to just not show up than it is for students who have already bought a package that just doesnt include these games don't show up.

I just checked the faculty application and the split season packages did not include either exhibition game or any of the BCA tourney games. Only the full season package included those games. The application did have the option of buying tickets to the BCA sessions individually but not the exhibition games.

What was the ticket office thinking?

Speaking of ticket office, has any student heard from them re: picking up tickets?

I have yet to get the email saying they were ready to be picked up, like they do with football.

I havent heard anyone say anything about it.

The best bet is just to send the ticket office an email and they should get back to you pretty quick...
