Seantrel Henderson (Buffalo Bills)

I cut and pasted this from the interview with Seantrel's parents. Go back a few pages to see it. It probably means nothing but who knows.

sGH: How about the USC visit?

Bree: The city is beautiful. They have a lot of support too. The football program is amazing.

Sean: The biggest thing with USC is they play in LA which is the second largest media market so he'll have a better chance to be known worldwide. They had an up and down this year but they have a great education there and great players and coaches. We spent a lot of time with them.
This is the sort of thing as to why I think Minnesota was talking about brand marketing with the Henderson family, and why I think Kiffin still has a great shot at getting him to LA.

I sort of think the "known worldwide" comment to be silly. No college football player will be known worldwide because football is not popular worldwide. The only place that it really is is in the US, and there isn't a dif btn USC and OSU. If you're doing well at either school, people will know who you are.

I've seen his father mention the LA media market many times, and how it will make his son a nation-wide star. Putting aside how absurd it is to think that a kid who plays offensive line will be a house-hold name ANYWHERE, does anyone remember who was the last offensive lineman to get any kind of national pub? He didn't play in Los Angelas....

Even the SC fans admit it comes down to if his folks have been sold on Kiffin. They, of course, are very hopeful the family have bought into the whole LA thang. I think the Hendersons are smarter than that and know a sleazy used car salesman when they see one.

Signing Day preview: Buckeyes eye top recruits
By Doug DiLillo
Published: Monday, February 1, 2010

...
Seantrel Henderson ? Offensive Lineman (6?8? 301 St. Paul, Minn.)
Choices: OSU, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, USC

Henderson is widely considered the country?s No. 1 prospect.

The mammoth offensive tackle is so physically gifted and dominant that he has been compared to past greats such as Jonathan Ogden and the Buckeyes? own Orlando Pace. A two-sport star, most believe Henderson could play college basketball as well due to his athletic ability. Sports Illustrated described him as ?the most polished lineman of the past decade.?

How good is Henderson? He became the first lineman in history to be named the All-USA Offensive Player of the Year, an award usually reserved for quarterbacks, running backs and wideouts.

As for where he will attend next year, Henderson has played his recruiting very quietly, never naming a clear-cut leader. He could potentially decide on any of his top choices without it being much of a surprise.

For the Buckeyes, however, speculation is beginning to surface that Henderson might be wearing scarlet and gray on signing day.

OSU?s main competition for the biggest recruiting prize of the year seems to be USC.

Henderson appears to be rather partial to USC, but distance as well as recent coaching changes could benefit OSU. Notre Dame, which is closest to Henderson?s hometown, is also a threat to land his commitment.

Two years ago, OSU came up smiling when the nation?s No. 1 player, Terrelle Pryor, finally made his college decision. Could OSU do it again on Wednesday? They will know soon enough.

Henderson will make his decision known on national television at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in New York City.

Questions with Bob Sansevere: Sean Henderson, father of top football recruit Seantrel Henderson
Updated: 02/01/2010 11:50:38 PM CST

...

BS: Has Seantrel made his decision about a college, and is he just holding off announcing it?
SH: No, he hasn't made a decision. I can honestly say, 100 percent, he hasn't made a decision yet.

...

BS: So, will you be moving with Seantrel if he leaves Minnesota?
SH: Definitely, 100 percent, if he chooses to do that (and attend a school other than Minnesota).

BS: There's a rumor out there that Snoop Dogg has told you that if Seantrel goes to Southern Cal, he would help you launch your rap career. Any truth to that?
SH: Emphatically, no. I've never met Snoop. I've never ever, ever comprised anything so that what I'm doing with my life has anything to do with Seantrel. I've never initiated a conversation about music into Seantrel's career at all. My career and music, and Seantrel's career never have been discussed. Three schools said, "You rap." They brought it up at the University of Florida. It came up this weekend at the University of Miami. They said they heard, "Blah, blah, blah." My mother saw it on the Ohio State Buckeyes' (Web) site. I don't know where it's coming from. I never talked to Snoop ever in my life. Nobody talked music and my situation. I've heard people say, "Oh, there are great studios here." I told Seantrel how uncomfortable that makes me. I'm not interested in combining my music with Seantrel's career. He has a tough decision. I'm just doing whatever a dad would do. I think people ? because they're so concerned with (his decision) and there's so much emotion in where Seantrel is going ? they want to find different variables of why he'd go here, or why he'd go there. In case he doesn't pick their school, they can say, "Oh, it's his dad." Or, "It's his mom and dad." It's his decision 100,000 percent. We don't want to cloud his decision-making process.

PREPSTAR: Henderson to Pledge Buckeyes!
Phil Fritz, Senior Editor
(2010-02-01)

The nation's top-rated prep football player has decided to play for Ohio State. Seantrell Hendreson, a PrepStar Dream Eam All-American offensive lineman from St. Paul Cretin Derham Hall, in Mnnesota, will make that commitment known on Wednesday.

Hendersonk, reportedly, selected the Buckeyes from a short list that also included Florida (visited December 18th, Iowa, Miami of Florida (visited land weekend), Minneosta (reportedly visited unofficially), Notre Dame (visited October 17th), Ohio State (visited September 11th, Oklahoma, Southern Cal (visited December 4th), Michigan and UCLA.

Henderson is 6-8 and weighs 338 pounds. IN the eyes of most coaches, Seantrell has "a perfiect football body." He excels in football, basketball and track. His track events include the weight events and the 1500 meters!

Videotape reveals a lineman who has excellent feet, exceptional pass-blocking skills and smarts. He need work on drive-blocking skills.
Hendedrson will be the nineteenth commitment for the Buckeyes this year.

Paint the end zones...we gettin' Hendersonk! :oh:

I think you are setting yourself up for a big letdown on Wednesday. I think it's USC and has been for some time. I think the bump in the road was Sneaky Pete leaving...but I think that hurdle has been cleared. I hope I'm wrong as this is an area of extreme need. I'll be watching the CBS show and see what Henderson says about why he selected the school he is attending with extreme interest. Recruits pick schools for reasons that sometimes cause adults to scratch their heads. It's not a logic based process...I just hope if he doesn't pick OSU that people won't bury his family and start complaining like some of the crap I have heard lately about another top recruit that chose Florida.
