Hakes said, “I am excited about Ohio State because I lived in Ohio and have been a huge fan since day one.” He also indicated, “I am going to the Ohio State camp this summer…no doubt… and plan to make it to Michigan, Illinois and Notre Dame.”
Between now and camp time, Sean said he plans to work on, “My timing on my throws. I had a flexor tendon injury my sophomore year and I am just now getting my full throwing back. I want to work on timing my receivers on their break.”
He credits his father and his coach (Duckworth) as being the influences driving him to get better each day. Sean said, “My dad is so important for his work ethic and how hard he works every day. He’s my idol and who I go to for guidance.” And he added, “Coach Duckworth is the best coach I have ever had. He has great perspective and great drills. He was with the Packers and worked with Farve.”
As for what he is looking for in a college, Sean answered, “A team that has the ability to go to the National Championship. A great coaching staff and the right offense. I like an even offense.” Hakes continued, “I was first called a drop back quarterback, but I am also kind of a dual threat. I want to play like Krenzel. I will do anything to win.”
Sean said he has no timetable for making a commitment, but “If its Ohio State or Michigan, I will probably commit early.”
