In the last five years, teams have went 9-1(Hell even 10-0) and NOT made the playoffs. And teams with lossing records making it.
This year, Cleveland Benny made it in with a 4-5 record, although there was other teams that went 8-2 that were probably more deserving.
Top of all would have to be Newcomerstown in 2001, in Region 15. The team goes 10-0 and finishes ranked 12 in their region.
Also my school Beechcroft going 9-1 last year, with our only loss coming from Brookhaven(Who won Division 2 State Championship) and not making it.
Although there is very little that can be done with the current system, what do you think could make it better. When a 3-7 team makes the playoffs(It has happened) and a 9-1 team has to stay home, that is where the problems start.
My suggestion is to add a exception to the current system and "tie" all 9-1 and 10-0 teams into the playoffs and decide the remaining spots with the computer rankings. Then use the computer ranking that each team has after you get the 8 teams and bracket the games.
Also something has to be done with these regions.
No team should have to travel over 3 hours(My team this year for out first round game against Canfield took a 3 and 1/2 hour bus ride to basically Youngstown). Why in the world would they put a team that is in Youngstown, with teams that are from Columbus and surrounding areas, and then have them play each other?
