Somehow Deonte Thompson fell from the top 10, to the mid 50's. Anybody wanna explain that one? Obviously the midwest got snubbed, but how did he suddenly become a bad player??

AND WHAT IS WITH THE LOVEFEST FOR ARRELLIOUS BENN? I have yet to see why he's going to light up the world as a receiver. He doesn't have the speed to be a deep threat, and doesn't have the height to be a dwayne jarrett possesion guy. He'll be good, but I'm not sure if he should be top 10... Although, that's only my opinion.

Thompson can be a bit inconsistent. He has great measurables and great potential but needs more polish imo. Benn is a good player but I like him better at LB to be honest. I don't see him as a game-changer at WR. I agree with your assessment though. I also think this is the worst top 100 list I have ever seen, though I've only followed recruiting for about 3 or 4 years. I expect ESPN's list to be better lol.

Most schools are recruiting him for Safety.

In doing the BPRT wish list blog today I noticed that they have Braksdale listed as the #22 OL in the country...that is all Newburg right there.

Pool is a big part of it too... He's said that Barksdale was an OL from the minute he saw him in San Antonio. I guess he and Newburg don't see what every major program in the country sees with Barksdale at DT... Doesn't do much for their credibility IMO...

On BN, Pool basically said that many programs are lying to barksdale about him playing DT just to get him on campus. The scout guys are grasping at anything to justify their top 100, which is getting shredded on all the boards.

Can someone tell me why Noel Devine is a consensus top-10 player in the country, as compared physically and talent-wise to Ringer and Sutton from two years ago, who were both three-star talents?

If anyone wants to start gushing about how great the kid is and direct one to look at his video or whatever...just note what Sutton and Ringer actually did in their freshman years of college and note the physical comparisons.

And I see that Robert Hughes (battling um, nd, and many others for his verbal) did not make the top-100.

I dont have a problem with Pool, Newburg is the one that doesnt have a clue. Pool fights for the Midwest guys to get some recognition every year.

Guys, I had an offline conversation with Pool and he seems real frustrated with the list. He is adament about Barksdale, but overall I think this year's "Hot 100" is mainly Newburg's debacle...

Rivals list is much better (as usual) IMO.

Devine may seem similar to these 2 backs but the way he scores and plays is amazing. I personally think he is the best player in the country but just doesn't have the grades and discipline.

Noah's highlights are much more exciting. Ringer's took a drop due to injury, and Sutton had a LOT of success as a freshmen. (Ringer didn't do too bad himself either). So their success at the next level probably only helped to solidify his top 10; and help them realize that both of those 2 players were better then 3 star talents.

I think the biggest problem with some of these rankings are that the people that make them and the people that get mad about them take them way to seriously.

Who cares if Barksdale is an OL or a DT. If a 17 year old kid believes that he is a DT and the schools are telling him that they are recruiting him as a DT, then why should he not be listed as a DT, despite what any expert or anonymous coaches may think? Rank him down if you want, but the kid should have a choice as to what he is listed as in a database, jmo...
