School now required to provide sports for disabled students

More people attend Bulldog women's gymnastics meets than they do men's basketball games.

100% untrue. They don't even track gymnastics attendance.
Here's an update from earlier in the year - just taking Auburn to task.

No attendance listed. But no way they beat Mens hoops.

Here the Basketball team beat LSU at home and had over 5k in attendance for an awful team.

I'll forgo my usual rejoinder and just the links speak for themselves:

Men's Basketball:
Men's Basketball Attendance - 2011
#60 Georgia 8,250
Men's Basketball Attendance - 2012
#74 Georgia 7.079

Women's Gymnastics:
NCAA Women's Gymnastics Attendance Rankings
2010-2011: #3 Georgia 9,262
University of Georgia's Stageman Colloseum(sic) holds 10,523 and they nearly maxed it out at one meet this season with 9,930 fans.
Final 2012 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Rankings
2011-2012: #3 Georgia 8,768

And a thread from 2010 started by a Bulldog that's relevant.

There are six home gymnastics meets. There are fewer home Gymnastic meets than home football games.
Of course the average attendance is going to be higher. The mens team plays 2-4 games when school isn't in session anyway.

Either you're pretty passionate about gymnastics or just desperately reaching to embarrass the mean old, cousin' fuckin' SEC fan - who gives?

If the gymnasts were your cousins, we'd forgive you.

"Of course the average attendance is going to be higher"?? First, that's what seemed to be claimed previously, which you claimed to be "100% untrue", and second, if there's an "of course" in there, obviously UGA basketball is in a pretty sorry state.

As a father of a disabled child, i think this is cool if done reasonably.

I think it's actually already a law through the "Free Appropriate Public Education Act" (or something like that).

Now kids shouldn't be playing varsity sports that can't athletically make it, but a reasonable effort should be taken so my daughter can kick around a soccer ball with some other kids.

A seeing eye dog for a girl to be able to run Cross Country. ABSOLUTELY!!!

That's very, very short minded of you. 30 years ago they said the same thing about Title IX and women's sports!

Now just look at the ratings! Everyone loves women's athletics! Why, tickets for the 2012 Women's Final Four couldn't be had for less than $12!

I think an effective argument could be made that the 2012 Georgia Tech Defense were all handicapped and they won their bowl game.

Fine, I'll be short-minded.....I'd rather be short there than other places! Bada Bing!

But my point kinda remains:

Making policies that will eventually force kids who want to play sports and can at a varsity level so some dumbasses in DC who either don't have kids or had them so long ago that they can't remember changing a goddamn diaper get a warm fuzzy is exactly why this country is fucked.

Might want to read the whole post, Mike.
