NAPA, Calif. ? A seventh-grader might end up in court for wearing Winnie the Pooh socks to school.
Toni Kay Scott, 14, was sent to an in-school suspension program called Students With Attitude Problems last year for violating a dress code, according to a lawsuit against the Napa Valley Unified School District and Redwood Middle School.
She had donned socks with the Tigger character from the Winnie the Pooh cartoons on them, along with a denim skirt and a brown shirt with a pink border.
But the school's policy requires students to wear clothes with solid colors in blue, white, green, yellow, khaki, gray, brown and black. Permitted fabrics are cotton twill, corduroy and chino. No denim is allowed. Continued...

While not a fan of dress codes in general, I volunteer my services to this school board in their effort to wipe out polyester panties. Why, I can sniff out polyester panties a mile away. Well...ok...sometimes they turn out to be cotton or cotton-blends, but still...

The media has headlined this to sound absurd....with the whole tigger sock thing. If you read on, I tend to think that the real problem was the denim skirt. The dress code said that they can't wear denim. But, oh yeah....she also was wearing some socks with tigger on them....How dare they enforce a dress code to somebody wearing tigger socks?

In reading the article it sounds more like she is in trouble for the denim skirt than the socks. IMO the kid has an attitude and that is about it, I am sure that the rules were stated and understood beforehand and she feels that she doesn't have to follow them. Fostering this shit is what is wrong with people today. Fuck the ACLU, we should load them PETA, and ALF all on a boat and sink the fucker. Better yet, light it on fire, that way Thump would have something to cheer as well.
