Scholarship Breakdown by Class

I have updated the chart to put parens around underclassmen known to be leaving (Spence, Underwood, Johnson, Dodson and Carter).

That still leaves us two over the limit even if our class stays at 24. Anybody know of an anticipated departure I have missed?

There are no "anticipated" departures as far as public knowledge goes but there are a few more names that likely will be moving on...the most obvious of which is likely one of the three QBs. The staff is out there recruiting like they are two under, not two over, so we can expect a bit more attrition...

Updated to reflect Hale getting an additional year - leaving us with 9 departing seniors.

With the known departures, and even if the Dunn rumor is true, that leaves us with 21 spots for the incoming class which already numbers 25 and the coaches in active pursuit of more.

No worries. I can make the spreadsheet as big as Urban needs it to be.

I think you're off by one if you are counting Dunn out. Your chart shows 78 ships with 9 seniors for a total available of sixteen. Five players have left the program (Johnson, Spence, Dodson, Underwood and Carter). That makes 21 spots available without the potential loss of Dunn. Dunn would make 22/25 and if Carlton decommitts 22/24.

I have added a column for "recruits". For kids beyond the next class I have indicated their year in parens following their name.

I took my best guess at future position and included athletes at the HB position. I did not include recruits in the position numbers in the left hand column.

Can't promise I will keep this up to date over the next week or so.

Note that we have 9 seniors, 18 juniors and 14 sophomores.
Compare that to 37 Frosh/RS frosh and 35 commits.

The future is indeed bright.

Note also that as of this writing we have 10 commits who are more than a year away. Michigan has 9 commits for a class that is one week away.

So far as I know Dunn is still a rumor and I did not include him in the numbers. Same with Davis.

Understood. I read it to mean that your arrived at 21 with Dunn counted out. My mistake. By the way, I love your chart and reference it at least once a week. It's a great resource and I haven't seen anywhere that has one as well-organized as this. Thanks.

I haven't moved the classes up a year yet, but I did remove the known departures and reduced the number of seniors to zero to make it clearer what is going on with the final number - which is now 64 returning and 25 incoming.

Still treating Dunn as a rumor.

Once McCullough signs we may become the only school in NCAA history to have two long snappers on scholarship.

Just finished updating with the new signees. (Major overhaul and chance for errors so point them out if you see them.)

If you are wondering where the attrition might come from, we now have 18 OL (9 true or RS Frosh) and 15 DB (6 true or RS Frosh).

We also have 12 DL who are Frosh or Soph and this interesting quote from Urban:

"The biggest disappointment in this program right now is the back-up defensive line." They're good kids, but "these next few weeks won't be pleasant. ... It's time to go."

This reinforces the speculation that Joel Hale will move back to DL.
