With the talented receivers in Ohio State’s 2014 recruiting class, some might have forgotten about Jalin Marshall. But he is making progress behind the scenes. Coach Urban Meyer mentioned him among several players who has been impressive in bowl practices, and sophomore linebacker Joshua Perry raved about him.
“Man, that kid … he’s a stocky kid who can move,” Perry said. “He’s got all the natural ability and really good body control you look for from a good receiver. He didn’t play this year, but the kid came along really well, and he’s going to have a really bright future.”
I don't understand what you mean when you ask, "Shouldn't Marshall be a Freshman?"...he is, and the article doesn't say he isn't.Very good work. It is amazing that there are only 13 seniors and even more amazing that there is only 1 DB and 1 LB.
Shouldn't Marshall be a Freshman?

Jalin Marshall, Corey Smith, and Michael Thomas, who all redshirted last season, will also be battling for playing time this season and could greatly help improve the caliber of weapons in the passing game.
With the incoming kids there are log jams at DB and DL which can generally trigger some movement. Add in the potential for academic issues and career ending injuries and attrition of 3-4 is not unusual. But you likely wont hear about transfer until the end of the semester. And we don't have to be at 82 until the start of class in the fall.If everything is correct there (and it looks like it to me), it means we have room at this point in time for a 21-man recruiting class and we are currently at 21. Seems logical that we will likely see some attrition like every team does during the spring and summer. Looks like it's likely going to be a 22-24 man class like everyone has been speculating.
I will fix Marshall. I went with the Florida A&M participation report for redshirts and thought I had seen his name there.
(Double checked and his name is on the OSU participation report for that game. However, that is not always accurate and I will defer to SB Nation.)
