Football: In support of the "Scarlet Fever" promotion for this weekend's game against Penn State, Head Coach Jim Tressel arrived at the weekly press lucheon in scarlet attire. He also brought props. He showed the towels that will be handed out to the first 80,000 fans through the gates, and he let everyone know that if it rains on Saturday, bring your red ponchos.
We'll have full coverage of today's coach and player interviews later today.

my problem with it is that it makes the stadium look empty. they did it the last time we played PSU at home and it wasn't that impressive. the red towels will be cool though.
White or light grey is a much more impressive scene.

The red towels will also be virtually invisible if everyone is wearing red. They better have some gray ponchos for everyone or that will be a lot of wasted cloth.

white towels would have been pretty sweet with everyone wearing scarlet.

:oh:

JT tried to say that Bill Livingston from the Plain Dealer had agreed to pay for white towels for the fans, but Livingston said no.

I have to some what disagree with you, I have been to 2 games when the red out or the "SCARLET FEVER" is in effect. One day and one night game. The day game is some what worthless, but im telling you that at night under the lights in a sea of scarlet it is very intimidating. I was sitting in A deck and looking up at 105,000+ fans in red under the lights is awsome.

The whole color thing is a mind thing anyway, what it does to fans is it says wow its a RED OUT lets cheer louder. That is why Tressel is doing this, to get the fans involved and student section insane.

it would look similar to this, and be quite sweet.

no, it's not. at night red will be quite dull/dark, especially with the mediocre lighting at the shoe.

Ok, just making sure. I agree with you, red at night would not look as good as white or gray, it's just that those colors tend to become neutral background colors, so I didn't know if you were being completely serious. White or gray during the day would tend to have the same effect as red at night. But "Scarlet Fever" for a day game would be cool, while a "Gray Out(?)" would be cool at night, with red towels. I do think it's cool that the Administrators are trying to get the fans up for a game, because the fans have been lax this season, I don't feel that fans wearing a one color is intimidating though.
