soooo.....don't you go into the meeting with a decision made?

This is all about the contract.

Someone suggested UM could have fired RR last month with an effective date of 1 January. I don't think it works that way. If I go into the office on Monday and my boss tells me I am fired effective Friday when I get home and my wife asks me if anything exciting happened I tell her I got fired. I don't tell here I am getting fired on Friday. I got fired on Monday effective Friday. If I have a buyout clause that expired Wednesday my boss may have screwed up.

By the same token in our litigious society RR and his attorney's can argue the case that if the decision itself was made prior to 1 January that is when he was effectively fired. It may be a weak case, but there is a lot of money on the line.

On the other hand, if Brandon can sit down with RR and discuss what has happened and act out the role that he is making this really tough call that incorporates feedback from RR himself UMs case becomes that much stronger.

Maybe you don't need to jump through all those hoops - but a second meeting that saves you $1.5 mil is a pretty profitable meeting.

Just remembering the O'Brien fiasco.

End jailhouse lawyer rant. Enter Gatorubet for the real scoop.

Let us not forget that our dear friend, Richard A. Rodriguez, leaves Michigan with not just that legendary overall record, Big Ten record, defensive records, series of embarrassing moments, and a roster of pee-wee players, but Richie also leaves that school up north with 3 more years of probation.

Long Live RICH ROD!
