Saddam on Hunger Strike

Nah, I bet he walks. I know from expierence that if you want to get in good with the tribunal trying your case, you tell the judge to hit himself in the head with his gaval, and generally show complete disrespect for the process. It's a no-brainer.

Probably what he's looking for.. I guess there was some report by some group, maybe even the UN, which says "forced feeding is torture"

Yep, it was the UN...

UN wants Guantanamo closed

hmmm... ok, so is allowing someone to starve to death torture? conversly, is starving someone to death torture?

edit:
Harsh conditions, such as placing detainees in solitary confinement, stripping them naked, subjecting them to severe temperatures or threatening them with dogs could amount to torture, if used simultaneously, the report says.

see this seems reasonable. apparently your allowed to do all of these thinngs, just not at the same time.

It says prisoners are not allowed to choose their defence lawyer and that the US appointed hearing officers with a "minimum level of legal knowledge".

oh..... my............. GOD!!!!!! how on earth could we possibly do such a thing. what horrible horrible people we are. im ashamed.... [/end sarcasm]

Assuming you provide food in a reasonable manner, no.

ok, so what do you think the UN/world would say and or do if we allowed prisoners in guantanamo or saddam to starve to death in such a fashion? do you think these groups would acknowledge that we provided food and write it off as their decision to make, or do you think the focus would be on the fact that prisoners died of starvation while in our care?
