Nebraska calls on Beavercreek's Domicone

BEAVERCREEK ? The unofficial world record for speed dialing and text messaging is held by Zach Domicone.

"I think I called or texted everyone on the call list on my cell within a minute after coach told me Nebraska was offering me a (college football) scholarship," Domicone said. "I'm not sure who was more excited, me or coach."

Domicone is a 6-foot-3-inch, 215-pound senior at Beavercreek High School. He was an option quarterback, but college coaches project him as a defensive back because of his size and speed (4.46 seconds in the 40-yard dash). His coach is Scott Clodfelter, who guided Beavercreek to its first winning season in 15 years last fall at 6-4.

Domicone got a call from Bo Pelini prior to the LSU-Ohio State national championship game.

"He told me to watch how LSU defensive backs Craig Steltz and Ali Highsmith played their positions," said Domicone.

"He envisioned me playing those spots for Nebraska. So that made the game even more interesting for me because I was rooting for Ohio State."

From Bill Greene...

Zach says he was set to commit to Nebraska and then picked up an offer to Oklahoma. While scheduling his flight to Norman, he was offered by tOSU and immediately changed his plans. It was the first contact from the Buckeyes and he will likely commit this weekend.

The articles mention S and LB as possible positions... I'm assuming safety for tOSU? If they were looking for LB and had the spot I would think Gardiner would have gotten the regular offer. Regardless, this kid has amazing measurables, and it's always nice to see a team like the Sooners denied for a trip to Columbus.

I played at a high level of competition in high school, and have been following recruting for more than 15 years. Grad... how does this happen. It's not like this kid held a private work out last week and benched 225 40 times and ran a 4.3. How does Nebraska, then Oklahoma and then tOSU all offer in a matter of a day? Who was on his list of offers before this? Where was he leaning? Why is this the first that we've heard of this kid, and he gets 3 major offers in a day. I mean, I know you can say "the coaches watch everyone one... he's been on their radar.... yada yada"... What's up?

No idea. Completely out of leftfield...however, a lack of exposure can do this.

The only time I'd heard of him was via RP from his thread when he got an offer from Air force.
