S Vonn Bell (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

I don't care what type of person he is, we're talking about playing styles, and Ed Reed is one of the best safeties in the NFL, so Bell comes close to that, then that would be amazing

Agreed. I could care less what type of person he is off the field, and honestly calling him a scumbag is a childish personal opinion. The fact is hes one of the greatest S ever, mike doss isnt even close to him, though hes still very good in his own right. Bell plays close to nothing like doss. If we want to win NCs and bring in the best, then we shouldnt have hurt feelings when theyre compared to the greats. And not every great played for the buckeyes. I know some think thats crazy

Really? Would you make that same comment if Mike Mitchell was being compared to Ray Lewis? We are on probation...I think a players off field persona is just as important as his on field ability. Vonn might be miles ahead in that category already.

And when has Ed Reed ever done anything scum-baggish? He's always seemed liked a pretty good guy to me (besides constantly taking a dump on my Bengals). Now Ray Lewis on the other hand...

Hopefully Bell can live up to expectations; seems like people are pretty much just assuming he's going to be an elite player and I always kind of cringe when I see that, but I know it's hard not too. I've always wondered why OSU hasn't been able to bring in the elite S prospects in the last couple of years, and hopefully he can be one.

ugh, smh

we're not comparing the type of people they are, we're comparing playing styles and what they did on the field, why is that so hard for people to grasp

Comparing 17/18-year olds to NFL players is dumb.

I want him to have the leadership ability of Optimus Prime, with the playing style of The Predator.

Are we done with this yet? Let's get back to talking about Vonn Bell...not Ed Reed.

This needs more discussion.

Maybe for the same reason some people can't understand that comparing any Buckeye to anyone affiliated with da U just doesn't sit well with others.

Of course this isn't the " I disagree with everything you say thread".

It is the Vonn Bell thread..A very talented kid that decided to be a Buckeye over many others. Kid has a great skill set, a good head on his shoulders, and by all accounts one heck of a family.

Can't wait to see him in S&G!!!!!

If you dont like HS recruits being compared to nfl players then you probably shouldnt follow recruiting. Since essentially every analyst does it, as well as most on this site and every other site for HS recruiting in ANY sport.

My major point was that this kid looks really talented, has a high football iq, is good in the classroom, has a great parent support system, everything were looking for in a player. And he has a chance to be great at osu. I cant remember us having a ball hawking S like this in a very very long time. He reminds me of a lot of the very good all conference talents at S that the sec has been getting. And its great to see us get this type of talent. Guys like kurt coleman, anderson russell, cj. Barnett, etc have been good S for us, but they didnt cause turnovers, at the rate this kid could have or were as athletic, and thats no slight to them because I liked them all but bell is different type of S. The thought of in a few years a defensive backfield of eli apple armani Reeves, cam burrows, vonn bell and darron lee or chris worley at the star, should have any buckeye fan drooling.
