S Ronald Tanner (Official Thread)

The same sentiment was out there for Pead, Jacob Ramsey, and Jeff Cumberland. All of the city league meetings and camps I went to as a player with these guys, all of their coaches expected Ohio State offers.

I think Tanner does see an offer, because some of the things that held back the aforementioned players are not an issue with Tanner. His academics are fully in line.

The second part of your statement is correct on both why Tanner is likely to see one and why the others didn't...

That's as much as I expected. I will definitely try and catch one of Tanner's games this year since I live in the area. Any prime time match up I should go to? I wonder if they play Brookhaven this year...

No Brookhaven... Walnut Ridge on 10/9 is probably going to be a decent one...

Eastmoor Academy 14, Walnut Ridge 10 (Weekend updates)

By Steve Blackledge
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Nothing could be taken for granted last night in a City League slugfest played on a wet, muddy field with the football squirting in every direction.
So when Walnut Ridge capped a goal-line stand with a fourth-down stop in the final three minutes, Eastmoor Academy safety Ronald Tanner made a decision.
“We had to find a way to make a big play on defense,” he said. “We were desperate. The league championship was on the line.”
Trying to gain breathing room and run out the clock, Walnut Ridge running back Shawn Usher disappeared into a pile of players on a first-down run. But the next vision was of Tanner dancing through the end zone with the ball held high as host Eastmoor stole a 14-10 victory.
“I ran up into the pile and stole the ball out of his hands,” Tanner said. “His legs were still moving and he was on the way down, and I felt like I had to take a chance at it.”

Roundup: Eastmoor can't stop Napoleon's run game | The Columbus Dispatch

Brandon Hummer and Nick Rettig combined for 186 yards rushing and three touchdowns, and host Napoleon overpowered Eastmoor Academy 28-14 last night in a Division III regional quarterfinal.

Napoleon (9-2), which rushed 54 times for 260 yards, took a 21-7 halftime lead when Hummer scored on a 3-yard run as time expired in the second quarter.

"That was a big momentum swing," Eastmoor coach Jim Miranda said.

Ron Tanner completed 15 of 35 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns, but threw three interceptions.

"We had opportunities. We dropped a couple of passes early on that kept giving them the ball back," Miranda said. "That created a slow start for us and they took advantage of it."

Tanner threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Kwesi Sample in the second quarter and a 13-yard TD pass to Brandon Norris in the fourth quarter. The Warriors (8-3) managed 54 yards rushing.
