Lathan Ransom made the most of his first career start on Sunday.
Ransom got the call to start for the first time because the Carolina Panthers’ regular starter at strong safety, Tre’von Moehrig, was suspended by the NFL for a week after punching San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings in the groin. He took advantage of the opportunity by recording 11 tackles, including his first career sack, to help lead the Panthers to a 31-28 upset win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Ransom had the most tackles of any NFL rookie in Week 13, continuing what’s been a standout season for Ohio State’s rookie class. With his excellent performance against the Rams, Ransom becomes the fifth rookie this year to earn our Pro Buck of the Week award as Ohio State’s top NFL performer of the week, joining two-time winners Emeka Egbuka and TreVeyon Henderson, as well as Quinshon Judkins and Denzel Burke.
Lathan Ransom records 11 tackles with a sack in his first NFL start, Joey Bosa forces his league-leading fifth fumble of the season and DaVon Hamilton fills in at long snapper.
