Sigh. Not what we needed with Downs no longer in center field. Not even sure what safeties we have at this point? Seems like he would've seen the field a lot or even start at the position. Then again, add him to the list I have said that about that have jumped in the portal...at the very least, our depth is getting decimated. Add on extra time expended in the portal to fill the spot and in trying to develop the player, and it's not ideal.

Just getting back....wondering if tOSU's sign-up policy is backfiring on them. Low entry NIL, and gets bigger as one performs...appears that we're losing the back-ups that are expected to move into the two -deep. Also, that this portal entrying may be a ploy to force tOSU into paying them more money now, rather than waiting. To see some of these guys bolt, with the prospect of playing next year very real, is/has gotta be disheartening for Day & Co (as certainly is for armchair coaches like me). Am certainly not in the know, so merely hypothicating as to why. Please direct me to any thread that puts this out there.....PS, do see how some of the guys want to 'get theirs' now, rather than putting in the time, when the Buckeyes then recruit players, either HS or portal, over them. Appears we've lost most of our back-up WRs, DBs, and RBs.

Faheem made a wise business decision with the negotiating power in his corner due to Downs leaving.

I may not like it but if he were my son, I would advise him to use the portal for leverage if possible.

Took me a while to connect the dots, but gotta agree. Of the 30 (currently) tOSU entrants into the portal, about 20 have found a new home. Being part of the Buckeyes, perennial contender, and by all accounts, very highly coached team, these young ones are doing what Thump implies, and using their training to leverage themselves into a starting position (?), and in all probability, more NIL loot. To whilst these RS sophomores, and sophomores are leaving, they are gutting at least two upcoming classes, and forcing tOSU to pick up some one and two year eligible players from other teams. And if I look at my crystal ball, the Buckeyes are going to lose many of their starters to the NFL after the 2026 year, and don't really see much 'coming up' the ranks to fill in, having learned the systems in place. Probably being an Eeyore here, but my brain is telling me one thing, and my gut another. Not entirely certain yet whether this team-catharsis will pay dividends, or not. Time will tell. Anyway, Go Bucks!
