I would be very surprised if we get Downs or Proctor.

Downs lives in GA, and his position coach is the new DC. Plus, I have a feeling they pay more than OSU.

Proctor committed to Iowa at one point. He will end up at Iowa. Being a OT at Iowa is a safe position. It's not like being a WR and going to Iowa.

It's hard to be optimistic sometimes, because OSU will always be in the top 5 for recruits. Unfortunately it has taken 2 years to catch on to the NIL game. So that has provided a decent amount of let downs. That add that as a fan base myself included have unrealistic expectations.

I'm in the same boat, I am all for putting full court press on both and hard not to get excited about the possibility of either happening. But deep down knew it wasn't all that likely for the reasons you mentioned. As for Downs, can't really fault him for going back to his home state to play for an elite program and defense.

Basically if we landed either, I would be ecstatic. If we don't, the team is still going to be loaded and we just need to grab an OL in the portal.

Yes losing Downs sucks but it moves the needle just slightly, the D is good enough as is already (though we would obviously be even better with him). OL is a different story imo we need to go after the most talented offensive tackles that come through the portal.
