Game Thread Rutgers at #1 tOSU, Sat. Nov. 22nd, 12 pm ET, FOX

Ohio State does not need to win this game. Sure, it'd be great to win it, but it isn't needed.
A win next week is needed.
Finishing 11-1 should be good enough for 4th or 5th.
I don't know who gets the tiebreaker between Ohio State and Oregon, in that case. And I really don't care today.

My point is that these receivers shouldn't be needed in this game, because this game isn't needed. It'll be senior day. Start all the seniors. Then take out all the seniors we'll need later. Play backups most of the game.

You never play to lose. NEVER. But you do practice and yearn all year to destroy those Cocksuckers. Sit the 2 receivers, keep Bo fresh, and play vanilla. The go full Tressel with the play calling the next week. FUCK EM.

Disagree with sitting everyone for the whole game. Live reps against an opponent are still important, especially for Sayin and the other WRs, they need to work more on their timing together in a live situation

If we are up a good amount at halftime then definitely bring the backups in for the 2nd half.

If we can't beat Rutgers without Smith & Tate then we got problems.

Reps in practice for the game. They're veterans. I don't see any need for them to get game reps against Rutgers.

I don't think it's important for Smith & Tate

but for Sayin and the other WRs it is, they need to work on their chemistry and get the timing issues more dialed in. Better to do that against Rutgers than have to wing it in the CFP if both of them happen to go down.

1. I agree that you should never play to lose. Maybe I wasn't clear - I'm not saying that they should TRY to lose. Just don't risk anything to win this game.
2. While I disagree with this idea, I can see why a team might try to lose, and sometimes I wonder if the Browns are doing this many years. If losing gets you a better draft pick, maybe you do that. I know that Ohio State doesn't get a draft pick, so it's totally different. I also don't like the idea of tanking to try to get a draft pick, anyway. But what do I know? (Don't answer that.)

That's fair and I'm not worried. I think my point is that this is maybe the most meaningless game all year, at this point. If we win 14-13 and drop 2 spots, boo hoo. If we lose 27-0 and we drop 5 spots, boo hoo.
If sitting players makes us more confident they'll be healthy for The Game, then do it.
If playing players makes us more confident in a conference and/or national championship, then do it.

Please don’t have Sayin Smith and Tate if you’re in run only mode. The running qb and the rbs can handle it.

I don't think Smith & Tate really need to play at all, let them take another week to get closer to 100%.

This game shouldn't be "run only mode" for the whole thing. Sayin and the other WRs need more work together.

There's no telling what an upset loss to Rutgers would do to the psyche of the team. It's easy to say "well it doesn't matter in the grand scheme" but maybe it would.
