I didn’t have the opportunity to see the game Saturday night so I will just touch on some brief points to ponder. Huge shout-out to all the fellas for jumping in with both feet each week and making this a fun feature! Let’s get rolling with the good.

Rumblin’

Silver Bullets…y'all are the real MVPs so far.

— Janelle (@jpeanutOSU) November 8, 2015

I have to give props to the Silver Bullets and coaching staff for the game-plan Saturday evening. They held a pretty decent Gophers offense to 33 total rushing yards. Granted, those numbers are low because of the beating Leidner took in the back-field but that’s where this defense is starting to grow it’s teeth.

It’s amazing to me how much a difference a year makes for the Silver Bullets and the way they play. A lot of it has to do with the talent that’s on that side of the ball, but it also involves Luke Fickell and Chris Ash. These two are probably on their way out after this season for some pretty good head coaching opportunities. I for one am really enjoying what I am seeing right now and hope it continues.

Let’s see what the staff has to say about the Rumblin’

Scott – Zeke Elliott. Trucking along.

Ken – Ohio State’s defense. It held Minnesota to 33 net yards rushing (1.3 ypc) and Bell’s pick-6 opened the scoring for the Buckeyes.
Michael – Ohio State’s big 10 winning streak. Now at 29, ties the all time record for most conference wins in a row. Only Illinois and the Wind Tunnel known as Memorial Stadium are in Ohio St’s way at the all time record.

Joe – There has never been a coach like Urban Meyer and there never will be. In the College Football Playoff era, we talk so much about how championship dreams are shattered when teams lose games that they shouldn’t.

Urban Meyer is 47-3 during his tenure at Ohio State. Two of those losses came in the postseason. One at the beginning of a National Championship run.

It’s hard to put into words just how special that is.

We live in an era where Temple can compete with Notre Dame. Where Memphis beats Ole Miss. A time in college football where and FCS team can give anyone a run for their money.

I hope Ohio State fans understand and embrace what is happening on the gridiron. Next time the Buckeyes don’t look as good as you hoped they would — remember that Meyer has lost just one regular-season game and is the only modern-day coach to win 47 of his first 50 games at an institution.

JC – I absolutely agree with Joe. Urban Meyer is the complete package. There is not any other coach in College Football today … and this includes Saban and Les Miles. Urban clearly has a grasp on the understanding of the ultimate prize. There is not a bigger competitive spirit in today’s game than Urban Meyer. This is precisely why he is loved and …. hated.

Brandon – I will go with Joey Bosa. It is hard to say Bosa is underrated but I think so many people get caught up in box score stats. Bosa is absolutely the most dominant defensive lineman we have had in awhile. Whether it is two guys or three guys, Bosa will still give it his all and for the most part is involved in every play. He never gives up and just keep Rumblin’ along.

TOUCHDOWN OHIO STATE!!!!! Cardale Jones takes the read option keeper 38 yards to the house! #GoBucks pic.twitter.com/CowCbnbGsa

I have been on Cardale’s side from day one. I am a big CJ supporter and believe in my heart he will always be appreciated for what he did at the end of last season. What has been troubling for me the past few weeks is that I think he is displaying some of the disappointment in himself for not playing at the level he did to win it all.

Let’s be perfectly clear, I think he does better when he knows there’s no competition. There was literally nobody else that could step in last season unless he began to fail miserably and we would have seen Jalin Marshall. What makes things more difficult to watch with him is the change in his personality too.

During the post-game presser, he was asked to rate himself and an obviously down Cardale responded “below average”. It wasn’t a case of him being hard on himself as far as my opinion goes. I think he is starting to believe what all of the naysayers have been saying. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe he will be ready to go, just think this has all been hard on his confidence.

In all reality, this is JT’s football team and he has some unfinished business. Cardale is now along for the ride, and here’s hoping he get’s to enjoy it!

Let’s see what the staff has to say about the Stumblin’

Scott – Offense with Jones. No offense but it seems to go a gear slower.

Ken – Cardale Jones at QB. His accuracy is still questionable and he has very little pocket presence and mobility.
Michael – Ohio State’s offense with Cardale Jones at QB. I don’t know why it’s so hard for the offense to put up numbers with Jones at QB, but again, we struggled to score points.

Joe – While blame can be put on Cardale Jones for Ohio State’s struggles offensively, we also have to place some on the interior of the offensive. Yes, Cardale Jones had plenty of throws and made plenty of mistakes. He also made a lot of plays out of nothing because of blocking breaking down in the backfield.

For the most part, he turned high snaps into positive yardage.

We are quick to blame the signal-caller (and rightfully so), but let’s look at the big picture here. Jacoby Boren had one of the worst games of his career. And at times, Ohio State’s offensive line played uninspiring football.

Whether they believe in Cardale Jones as their quarterback or not — that’s unacceptable.

JC – I have to say Warriner & Beck here. They seem to start their engines too slowly and they are not utilizing Cardale with his strengths. The Urban offense is designed for planned runs by the QB. Cardale gets his yardage on broken plays. He needs to sit in the pocket and use that arm. They simply need to readapt when Cardale is in.

Brandon – Tyvis Powell catching an interception. It has to be just mental now.

After saying my piece about Cardale above, I am going to continue with one simple thought for you. Do you have what it takes to step in and produce at the level that he has? Let’s just take your day to day job as an example. Would you be able to replace your top leader on short notice and be as effective as he was in the amount of time it took?

I will answer all of the questions for you. You couldn’t and don’t have any idea what it would take to do what he did last season. Shame on anyone that has said anything disparaging about him, shame on you. Step in his shoes for a day and let me know how they feel.

Let’s see what the staff has to say about the Bumblin’

Scott – the official who called the targeting penalty. Not even close.

Ken – Minnesota’s inability to run block. They were held to 33 yards on 26 carries. They had 4 rushes that had negative yards, 4 rushes with 0 yards and 7 rushes of 1 yard. Their longest carry was a draw play for 13 yards on 3rd & 19. That’s pretty bad.

Michael – Jim Harbaugh going for 2 up 41-16 vs Rutgers. You want to tweet out about having class? Have some yourself first. I wish I could put what I really feel about him, but there might be kids reading this.

Joe – Anyone that is writing off Cardale Jones and his importance to the Ohio State program is being hypocritical.

I get that your armchair elevates your ego by 20 experience points. The remote control, the sword that cuts through common sense.

I have no issue with those judging his play on the field. That’s warranted. But to say that he’s done at Ohio State and should never get a chance. This is the same player that guided Ohio State to a championship when the Buckeyes had zero chips heading into play at the final table.

Cardale Jones deserves respect for his role in this program.

Let’s not slap him in the face, by saying that Saturday was the last impact he’ll ever have at Ohio State.

Football is such a fickle game.

Saying that Cardale Jones doesn’t have a role in Ohio State’s upcoming playoff run is foolish too.

JC – I like Michael’s response. Jimbo is …. a “mess”. The false prophecy is abundantly visible in Ann Arbor.

Brandon – The kicking game. There is not a Buckeye fan alive who would feel confident if the Buckeyes were down three and Jack Willoughby was trotting out to tie the game, no matter the distance. He is 7 for 11 on the year and none were more than 39 yards.
