Agree with Grad. The bump happens at the line. It would go especially for a tight end since they usually incur resistance on every play. The "route" doesn't even begin until the release has occurred. Its the players that get "into their routes" fastest that are harder to cover and the ones who are disciplined enough to complete their routes that become the best route runners. Speed is an invaluable asset but knowledge of the game is incredibly inderrated for making plays. Steve Largent is the poster boy for perserverance and determination.

My guess is that a good route-runner should be able to fight off the bump-and-runs (sounds like a bad stomach sickness).

Man, I guess that means I was a good route-runner today after my Chippotle burrito lunch was giving me some bump and runs. I fought that off all afternoon!

Seriously, if anyone wants to see a good route, check out Holmes' TD catch against Michigan. It's hard to believe he's that open in man coverage against an all-world (supposedly) DB. Sweet route.

Couldn't have been Chippotle. Must have been.. umm.. maybe you ate a bad donut, or something? Or did you chew some gum? I hear that can screw you up. But not Chippotle.

True. Chippotle represents all that is good in the world. Well....Chippotle and Buckeye football, at least. Maybe it was the moldy cottage cheese. Would that do it?
