Well, it was a tough decision trying to decide whether I want Wisconsin or Penn State to win next Saturday's game. There are two possible train of thoughts:

1. If Wisconsin wins, then we have to depend on Iowa to beat them for OSU to go to the Rose Bowl (assuming OSU wins all remaining games of course).

2. If Penn State wins, then we have to depend on Michigan State to beat them.

I think it's more likely that Iowa could beat Wisconsin then Michigan State could beat Penn State. However, if Wisconsin goes on to the Rose Bowl without having played Ohio State, do they really deserve it?

So, I guess I have to hope for Wisconsin to win at Penn State and hope like hell that Iowa can beat them. I guess it's also "possible" but unlikely that Wisconsin could be upset by Hawaii, which is their last game of the season.

Ummmm...there's this thing now called the BCS. The Rose Bowl this year will be for the National Championship. The Big 10 champ will not be getting a spot in the Rose Bowl this year unless a whole lot of strange things happen between now and the end of the season. The Big 10 champ will, however, play in one of the other BCS Bowl games (Fiesta, Orange, or Sugar).

I don't see Wisky winning at PSU, but I could see MSU suprising PSU on the last weekend.

Key for us is that there are now 3, 1-loss teams in the B10 and 2 of them play each other this week while we get Illinois.

I'm not sure Hawaii would have any effect on who wins the Big 10
Hawaii could determine who where tOSU plays. If Wisky beats PSU and loses to Hawaii, then tOSU would represent the B10 in a BCS bowl (provided we win out)

Here's how it works:

B10 BCS tie breakers goes by
1. conf win % (tOSU and Wisky Tie)
2. overall win % (tOSU and Wisky Tie - Hawaii negates Texas)
3. Head to head (N/A)
4. Last to go rule (tOSU 2002 > Wisky 1999)

Of course, if we don't win out none of this will really matter. Since we no longer control our destiny, I've gotta go with Zurp and just let the chips fall where they may...

There is absolutely no way that Wisconsin will lose to Hawaii. Unlike Michigan State and Northwestern in past years, Alvarez will have the team prepared for the game, and the Hawaii offense is NW, only a lot worse, and the D is about the same.

A Wisconsin loss at Happy Valley and then a Michigan State win at East Lansing is the possible scenario...I don't see another realistic one.

Yup. Conference losses take precedent over non-conference losses, so if PSU and Wisconsin both lose a conference game, OSU is good. However, if Wisconsin wins out then loses to Hawaii, leaving both OSU and Wisconsin at 9-2/7-1, Wisconsin gets the BCS spot by the last to go rule.

I'm not sure about the last to go rule... I can't remember the last time Wisky went - can you refresh my memory?
Wisconsin's last BCS bowl was the 2000 Rose Bowl against Stanford after the 1999 season. Ohio State of course went to the 2004 Fiesta after the '03 season.

Hawaii beating Wisconsin doesn't mean anything if Wisconsin wins out. The Badgers have to lose a conference game.

Uh, didn't you already answer yourself in your previous post?

"4. Last to go rule (tOSU 2002 > Wisky 1999)"

Actually, Wisconsin indeed last went to a BCS bowl (2000 Rose) after the 1999 season, while we last went after the 2003 season (2004 Fiesta).
