Good point and I hadn't thought of that. It seemed like there was something missing.

Folks, it was Akron in a muggy "preseason" game! It was not a conference game or a big-time opponent who should test the Buckeyes. The offense on both sides was painful to watch. Honestly, I give the crowd credit for making plently of noise during Akron's offensive snaps.

It's a shame that we have to rely on the students to make that much of a difference in atmosphere...

it's the way it is at osu now. as an aside, i overheard a woman talking about how she gets as many as 6 tickets to any osu game she wants, because he brother-in-law is neighbors with betty montgomery, and gave nice chunks of cash to her campaign.

she went on to say that she and her clique use the tickets to make social appearances.

unforunately that is going to be the way it is at a lot of osu games before school comes back. certainly not the environment to wow a recruit.

I'm surprised that is still the case, with Marc Dann now as our Attorney General and Betty out of office.

Thanks - as one of those in the stands ("C" deck) I was doing my part - and, I was not alone.
14 punts anyone?

Best tickets I ever had to a game were from a friend of my wifes. Her husband worked for the Republican party in some appointed job. His wife found them in his bureau drawer - he forgot he had them.

The other inside track is to know somebody in the ticket department. I went to the mat with the AD over my BBall season tix one year when I found out I had lost my 20 year seats to friends of Richelle Simonson.

Agreed. Why don't they stick all the students together in the south endzone or something? I realize that most students get put down there, but its not the same. With as many students OSU has, we should have a great student section.

PSU's student section is a thing of beauty, and I know OSU is capable of putting something like that together (not specifically a white-out, but just a great student section).

Bingo! The Horseshoe is and always will be the most intimidating places to play in big games. Nothing to worry about.

For one, not all of the students want to sit there.

Those saying we dont have a real student section, have you ever been to a game?

Hah, after posting this I realized it was in JJ's thread, talk about off topic - I had completely forgotten what thread I had clicked on....

31,000 students had season tickets last year. Block O has 1,200 students, hence why it isn't that great of a student section.

I do agree with your first statement though. My senior year we had 13AA for B10 games and 15A for pre-conference - I'd never trade that for south stands. Sections 11-15 on all levels are mostly students, but aren't organized into a unified "group." Those sections stand for every snap and across the aisle looking into section 17 and the club seats, everyone is sitting down for almost all of the game.
