At age 48, my first trip to The Big House. I had been looking forward to taking my 9 year old son to a Buckeye game this year, but for numerous family and work obligations, a trip to Columbus never worked out. After searching StubHub last week, I found a ridiculous amount of tickets available...and day by day, the prices continued to fall !

Just a week ago, my son stated how cool it would be to go see the Buckeyes play (up north). So, Friday night, I asked him..."Wanna go see the Buckeyes play at Michigan?" "No thanks", he replied.

Huh !?!?!?!

He is a huge Buckeye fan, but I think the thought of opposing fans harassing him made him nervous...that's all I can fathom.

My wife stated, "Let me talk to him." With the threat of me possibly taking his sister to the game, he quickly changed his mind.

So, around 10:00 pm Friday night, I was able to find good seats on StubHub. 10th row, 20 yard line, Buckeye sideline, $100/each.

It was an early day, woke up at 5:00 am, on the road by 6:00 am. GPS stated 3 hour 5 minutes from Greenville (west central, Ohio). It was an easy drive traveling north I-75, to 23 N, I-94 West. Very little traffic until we were about 4 or 5 miles away (around 9am).

Per the advice of gracelhink, I drove the Holiday Inn Express, Ann Arbor...well actually, I parked in the Sears parking lot at the Briarwood Mall (Free!) and we walked over to the Kensington Court Hotel, 610 Hilton Blvd, Ann Arbor, MI.

ParkRide tickets (roundtrip) $3.00 each purchased at lobby of hotel. Very nice, clean, modern shuttle bus drove us just outside Crisler Center, which is adjacent to the football stadium. Had our tickets checked by friendly attendants, we were offered yellow poms by friendly students (refused of course), Everyone we came into contact with were friendly and welcoming. "Welcome to the Big House" we heard numerous times. The guys that showed us to our seats offered to take my son and my picture, the vendors as well as the UM fans that sat around us were friendly as well. No foul language...the only A-holes around us, unfortunately....were Buckeye fans!

I've also heard what a "hole" Michigan stadium is...it's not. Quite clean, modern looking, I really don't think there would be a bad seat in the house. Don't get me wrong, I love Ohio Stadium...but no stupid pylon situation like we have in B-deck.

The crowd was LOUD!

Luckily the Buckeyes prevailed, and it seemed that the fans from both sides were emotionally drained. Wolverines disappointed, Buckeyes relieved.

We boarded the SOUTH bus back to Kensington Court..it was delayed due to heavy foot traffic, but soon made it back to hotel and our van. Heavy traffic most of the way home.

I would recommend this trip to others... Tremendous college football atmosphere, kind, friendly people (maybe having a 9 year old with me...and me not being an asshole helped).

This rivalry is one of the best in college football and was fun to be a part of the 113,000+ that attended that day.
