how the hell do schools from Iowa and Tulsa have nicknames of Hurricane type storms?

that would be like Miami calling themselves the Blizzards or something equally dumb.

we rarely get sleet back home.
at worst we'll get some freezing rain.

38° and raining was worst I ever played in.

I am. also don't live in the midwest (surely could be a thread for silly college nicknames) and don't understand their reasoning on a number of things (such as--isn't a Sooner a cheater?).
