Just wanted to start the ball rolling on this end of things. I can rip the DVDs to .iso, but wouldn't know where to start with the VHS tapes. If anyone wants to convert these, I'd be happy to mail them out.

Well, I have a Win-PVR card on one computer, an all-in-one Wonder ATI on the other. All the software for clipping out commercials is in my hands, as are a number of tools for conversion - though the less of that one does, the better.
Got a VHS player or two.
With output cables from VHS player to card in 640 x480 or similar format it will be a relatively simple (though moderately time-consuming) matter to convert batches of tapes to mpg / DiVX.

Hmm, I forgot that I have a similar setup for my desktop as well - consequently that computer is in pieces at the moment but nothing a few hours over the weekend couldn't fix.
The tapes and DVD's could be split up so we could release more torrents quicker. What do you guys think of that?
Also, what format works out the best for everyone? DIVX's are smaller, less quality but can be downloaded faster. DVD's like TimBUCK2 made are bigger files, but can be watched on regular TV's.

I am converting vcr tapes to dvd vts type files and have been wanting to buy the software or program necessary to convert them to something appropriate.
I myself would rather have the DVD so that if I want to sit in the lazy boy and enjoy a game on the Tv I can.
I just got done converting about 5 or six games from 1993 and 1994 each to dvd, and still have to do up thru 2005. I would be willing to send some of them to someone who would convert them. I can get a lot of football games plus some BB games from when JJ played and they are all on vcr tape now.
I can convert vcr's to dvd if they are sent to me.
So I could take a year if you wanted the other Sandgk.

The DVD's I'll just rip to .iso myself. Or if someone wants to post a detailed walk-through regarding ripping to DVD folders or another format, I'd be happy to do that instead.

I can't find 2001 (that's what I get for typing before looking), but it must be around here somewhere. I do have 2002 though, and will get that out to BB tomorrow.
I also have (in front of me) on VHS the following -- note that some tapes have multiple games, so I've grouped them together accordingly. I do not know the sources of some or all of these. Many were direct records, others may not have been.
1988 LSU v. OSU
1988 LSU v. OSU (as above, just a different tape, I guess)
1997 Rose Bowl (we have this already I think)
1991 (Basketball) Indiana v. OSU
1998 Michigan at Ohio State
2001 Ohio State at Michigan
2003 Spring Game
2002 Spring Game
1995 Notre Dame at Ohio State
1997 Rose Bowl (as above, just on a different tape again)
Now, as to my DVDs...
I have the entire 2002 season, and most of the 2003 season (thanks to Mili, for that one). However, each game is on 2 discs (except for the NCSU game, which is on 3).
How would we best handle that? One .torrent for each half? One .torrent including both halves? That last one probably makes the most sense -- but then .iso? Folders? Is there a way to merge the files and reduce them to a single disc size?
I can do the simple stuff, but if we're going to get much more complicated with these, I'll probably have to send them to a 'pro.'

we still will have the job of converting all the dvd's that I make into divx disc then wouldn't we? It sounds like Sandgk has a lot of equipment, but I don't know exactly how all this is done.

Shoot me a PM with your mailing info, if you want them. Like I said before, I hope to get all this stuff back eventually, but I'm perfectly happy to mail them out to see if we can share them online.
