Impressive to have parlayed an utter lack of acting talent into such a long and storied career.

The more I think about this the more I'm completely bummed. I could usually give too [censored]s when a "celebrity" dies. But you know what? Hopper was a [censored]ing icon in my book. I hate thinking about the mortality of an icon . . . .

I agree with both sentiments. There was just something about Hopper that made all of his rolls memorable. And you could glimpse a portal to the dark side of human nature in most of his characters.

Great piece on Dennis on CBS Sunday Morning a bit ago. He was truly a unique character with unique experiences. And Natalie Wood at 18....yeah boy....

It was meant as a comment on the man's life. Controversial, drunk, hard to get along with in his early years but later saw a better role he could perform in life. A more positive role.

Good point... although the "in threes" thing doesn't have an expiration/time limit. In fact, we mentally build the grouping around whatever time limit it takes...

Perhaps Dennis was the beginning of another grouping. Morbid, but certainly reflective of his role as a trailblazer. Plus, it gives those with Lohan and Winehouse in the other pool hope.
