Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

Rich Rodriguez is like William Shatner, only without the awesome. RichRod and Shatner are bad actors. They both told their fanbases to get a life. They each have cherished assistants (Barwis, Nimoy). And, they have no problems with letting their redshirts get burnt (Feagin, Ensign Jones on the landing party).

Rodriguez's sin isn't thinking that some of the Michigan fans need to get a life. His sin was being stupid enough to say it. That's the equivalent of doing the worst job performance anyone in the history of the company has ever done, and then flipping the boss the finger for being overly critical. Especially when you and everyone else in the world knows you were not the company's first or even second choice for the job. And by the way, where was Rodriguez's "greater perspective" when Grant Town, W.V., put up two signs that read "Home of WVU Head Football Coach Rich Rodriguez"?
This statement speaks volumes. Watch out Rich, the finger doesn't work too well when your 3 and 9. I hear Toledo's Tom Amstutz is looking for a job.

This isn't the first misstep by Rodriguez, just the latest, and keep in mind that there are two kinds of fanatics. There are the loudmouths that post crude messages on boards and rip you on talk radio. And then there are the silent assassins who navigate behind closed doors and sign big checks. They're just as offended by the "Get a life" statement, but they possess something the bigmouths don't: power.
Well, I'm not a loud mouth or a silent assassin. Richey Rich...ha ha, laughing all the way to the bank this season...

Michigan fans take RichRod's advice to "get a life" | FanNation

ANN ARBOR -- Thousands of devoted University of Michigan football fans have heeded the call of their enlightened new coach, Rich Rodriguez, and placed their pigskin passion in the proper perspective. Wolverines fans are dumping their season tickets, skipping their booster donations and spending their time and limited resources on more important things.

Note: Made up, but still funny.

Everyone is too hard on RR who is just trying to do the fans a solid.

He isn't saying they need to get a life if they want to be happy.

He is saying they need to get a life that doesn't include Michigan football if they want to be happy.

"Attrition" is a funny way for Rodriguez to say he's cleaning house following the season.

ESPN - Michigan's Schilling hurt, another player leaves team - Big Ten

----

Rodriguez also announced that defensive tackle Jason Kates has left the team. Kates didn't play much this season, but he's the second player to leave the program this week. Wide receiver Zion Babb was dismissed for violating team rules.
Rodriguez admits that other players could soon be leaving the program as well.

"That's it right now, but there may be more attrition," he said. "We've asked the guys, and we've been pretty honest with them all along ... we want everybody to make a total commitment to our football program, especially academically. If they're not upholding what they do academically and athletically, then really they need to see if this is the spot for them.

"It's not easy, but a lot of our guys have made a tremendous commitment. A handful, maybe, haven't. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks."

I love the way he tries to portray this as his decision or deciding to not meet academic standards.

How many kinesiology students was that again?

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez to get first taste of intense rivalry with Ohio State

by Jodie Valade/Plain Dealer Reporter Wednesday November 19, 2008, 10:30 PM

Spencer Green/Associated PressSaturday's OSU-Michgan game will give Wolverines' coach Rich Rodriguez his first taste of how intense the rivarly is.

Rich Rodriguez hears it's lovely in Columbus this time of year. He's heard tales of how lively those Ohio State fans get in the stadium they call the Horseshoe, and how passionate the wacky college kids in both Michigan and Ohio are about their traditions this week.
But the first-year Michigan coach has not seen any of it in person. He's a West Virginia native who enjoyed his greatest success playing and coaching in that state. He is not from Ohio or Michigan; he has never coached in either state. He can't possibly know anything about coaching one of the fiercest, most intense and storied rivalries in all of college football.
"I think that's a bunch of bull," countered John Cooper, the former Ohio State coach.
Maybe. Or maybe not. According to Cooper, just about anyone can understand the gravity and tradition of the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry by leafing through history books and witnessing the titanic clashes from afar each year.

Bill Livingston: Add one more loss to Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez's record -- reputation

by Bill Livingston/Plain Dealer Columnist Wednesday November 19, 2008, 8:45 PM

Rich Rodriguez is not only the coach of the worst Michigan team ever, where they have been playing football since Rutherford B. Hayes was president, he also burned his bridges and trashed his files before leaving the employ of West Virginia University.

His daddy was a coal miner, and Rodriguez was a graduate of West Virginia. But after he jilted the school 17 days before the Mountaineers' Fiesta Bowl victory over Oklahoma on Jan. 2, he became a pariah. He is as welcome there as a Hatfield at a McCoy picnic.

Nothing he did at WVU so belittled him as his leaving it. He sent a graduate assistant to turn in his letter of resignation to the athletic director. He had six years left on his contract, but seemed to think his coaching cachet made him as immune to gratitude or obligation as free agents in the pros.

not sure your one to talk there boss...
This one got on my nerves too.

"You've been hearing about it all your life," Cooper said. "You don't have to live in Ohio or Michigan to know about that. I think that's blown way, way out of proportion."

Why are his speaking rights not revoked during Beat Michigan week? Let him speak when we are playing NoD or when we are in the Rose Bowl or something.

I think the stress is taking a toll. There seem to be less hair plugs in the triangle he's got on top of his head. I saw him on a BTN interview - and the plugs look like they're thinning - really.

But I shouldn't be concerned about his hairline - I obviously need to get a life.

Those hair plugs should have come with a fucking chinstrap. You many need a life, but he needs to spend more than 19.95 on a hair transplant.
