  • Ever wonder what the new rep "jewels", "greens", or whatever you may call them, mean? You've probably noticed that Clarity implemented a new indicator system, replacing to older one which had only the dark green "chicklets", with a maximum of 11, which nearly everyone had because of the way the system calculated them (the values for each were so small, as members keep getting reps and their "power" grew, it got to the point that if they gave someone a rep it was worth way more than the worth of the maximum of 11). The new system not only has a much higher ceiling for maximum jewels (1,110,000 points vice around 14,000), it can also keep going well past the ceiling simply by awarding you a Gold Buckeye Leaf and starting the jewel meter over. Below is a chart that shows how many points you need to get each jewel (note you start with two jewels, not one):

Once you max out the meter, you get a Gold Buckeye Leaf and the meter resets, but you total keeps going. For example, DCBuckFan has 1,118,196 rep points. Since he has more than the 1,110,000 max, he gets a GBL and his meter gets reset. But since he has 8,196 over the GBL award, he gets the six green jewels for having between 8,001 and 10,000 points. Another example, scooter1369 has 2,250,368 points. So, he gets two GBLs for having over 2,220,000 (1,110,000 x 2) points, and eight jewels for having 30,368 (between 30,001-50,000) points over that.

Also note it takes more and more points to progress as you climb up the rep meter (a 50,000-point rep from a member with a ton of rep points will bump you up a bunch or all in dark greens, but only a couple in bright greens, and only one or maybe even none in the golds).

So now you know. I need a beer.

Looks like the system is maxed out right now. The top five rep holders all have 15 GBLs and max jewels, although there is a pretty big gap between the top rep holder (Clarity) and the current #5 (yours truly). I repped Clarity with no change is his jewels/GBLs display. I think points are still being awarded but the system won't more than 15 GBLs in order to keep from filling up the page...

Well, here's how the new systems awards points. Basically, a dark green chicklet is worth 1,000; bright green is 2,500; gold is 10,000; and each Gold Buckeye Leaf is 130,000:
