Well, after a recent meltdown in the rep system, we have decided to actually toss a pacifier in the crib since some kiddies cannot play nice and insist on abusing the system.

We have created a specific "timeout" usergroup for those kiddies that insist on abusing the system...rep circles, daily dings, nasty rep comments, etc.

It will work just like a forum ban....the first one might be for 2 weeks, the next for a month, the third, well....longer. All of your normal posting rights will remain....just no rep system.

The juvenile BS is tiresome...people whine, people complain, then the same people retaliate.

Thanks.

Please note that this is NOT an invitation to start discussing reps on the forums or to start reporting every nasty comment received. Reps are considered private between members unless they get blatantly abusive, threatening, or excessive, and it is expected that adults should be able to shake off the occasional negative comment without making a fuss.

That's for the 1% of the BP membership who need the reminder... Thanks and appreciation for the 99% who don't need to do anything other than what they're already doing. :)

Is there some kind of clarified rules to this or is it subjective? I ask because my husband and I rep each other pretty often but we amuse the hell out of each other a lot.

Seriously tho, forum ban rules are pretty clearly defined, are the rep timeouts gonna get some kind of definitions similar?

There is a pretty blatant difference between what you are describing and what is causing the BS problems.

The folks who are abusing the system know who they are. For example, since September, one member has "dinged" another 28 times to one. That includes one each day over the last 2 weeks.

If you need clarification...PM one of the Admins.

Unless you're clearly building up each other's rep power so you can gang up on another poster with more powerful daily dings, I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone has a few people whose posts they find particularly intelligent or humorous.

It's subjective, but if we need to use the rep ban, it will be due to ongoing problems that are in no way a surprise to the person affected.
