Valdez is such a worthless pile.

This team right now is in big trouble. They may limp home to a division title, but with no offense, an ace not pitching like an ace, and a closer who has to be shut down things are not looking good. This team can't play the Pirates every day.

Votto back.
Heisey playing over Stubbs.
Guy with OBP north of .330 leads off.
When Stubbs plays he's batting 7th.

Team sucks.

I get really down on the Reds as well sometimes (as you can tell by posts made earlier in the thread). They are struggling right now, but I don't think they're in big trouble. If they were only up 5 games, I'd say they would be in big trouble, but they have a good lead right now. The Pitt series was huge for them.

Watching them tonight was frustrating, but Dryden already pointed out some good things that have recently been happening and just look at it this way: The Reds are struggling right now, but they still have 17 games to figure some things out, get guys out of slumps, and prepare for the playoffs.

Now if they continue to struggle like they did tonight up until the very end of the season and close with only a 1 or 2 game lead, then I will be more concerned, because if they go into the playoffs playing like the have the last two weeks, it'll be a lot like 2010, but they have time to improve and gel a little more with the new lineup.

Also, the WBs are now down 6-4 in the 6th inning, so that's good news.

It hasn't been just tonight. Go back to the start of the Phillies series. This team has played .500 ball against not so good teams and averaged 2.6 runs a game.

I have no doubt this team can pull out the division. Yet when they go up against a real team in the playoffs, they better have their heads out of their ass. I would feel better about it if I actually thought Ludwick, Phillips, Rolen, and Frazier are the hitters we saw in July and August. Yet history tells us they are not. Votto is back, but does not look anywhere near 100%. Cueto has been pitching terrible, and Chapman is a mess. This does not look like a team primed to make a run for the WS. Things can change, and heck, I felt the same way in 1990 (I know few will remember that, but that team tread water for about 4 months). Yet right now I have no faith in this team, which I am sure is not a shocker for anyone who has read this thread.

Fair enough, they've played stupid and/or bad baseball for quite a few games. Hopefully they can figure things out heading into the playoffs, especially Cueto.
