Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

Chappy's slider has been clocked at 94 mph before. That's insane.

BP going to miss some games. Kremchek said it was ok to play after he was limping Sunday, and now is saying its worse than they first thought...which is exactly the deal with what happened to Votto. Add that up with what Edmonds said before and I think its time to find a new medical director. He's only misdiagnosed our two best position players in the last six weeks. What a joke.

So the Phillies shed Vic and Pence and proceed to run out there last night and rough up Strasburg for 6 earned in 4 innings. That's a very Homer-esque performance.

On Aug 1, the Cincinnati Reds have the best record in baseball, bitches!

This has been going on long before Edmonds had his cup of coffee here.

Remember folks, Votto still has to abandon rehab and have a second surgery before he'll be back. He's on the Kremchek Plan. If players don't have setbacks, how is the team doctor supposed to get on TV?

Part of the reason Kremchek gets heat is the episode from 2001 when then-general manager Jim Bowden said Kremchek "misdiagnosed" Griffey's hamstring injury. Bowden later apologized.

"We elected not to do surgery then, and knock on wood, he hasn't had a problem with the left hamstring again," Kremchek said.

...

"When I first got here, everyone was running to (Dr.) Jim Andrews in Birmingham," Kremchek said. "You don't see that happening anymore."

The reason nobodys run to Andrews for the past 14 years is because they can't even fucking walk after having all their leg injuries misdiagnosed.

Phillies DFA Fontenot. LH middle infielder, 32, .289/.343/.340 this season in spot duty, hits righties better than anyone on the bench (.329/.375/.390).

Younger and more competent than either Cairo or Willie Harris. Might be worth kicking the tires on if Phillips is down for any length of time.

Meso suspended 3 games...will appeal

Meso suspended, Phillips ailing but probably won't expend a DL trip, and one of the options on the bench is Miguel Cairo. Fuck it, let's play with 22, it's not like Walt hasn't been doing it for years. :smash:

Hopefully the appeal drags out long enough for Phillips to get back to regular play. IMO though, since it's only 3 (I figured it'd be 5), I do the time ASAP and have Mez back for Saturday against the Pirates. Hanigan can catch Arroyo, Cueto, and Latos -- those are 'his' three pitchers already.

With the Victorino trade the Dodgers have DFA'd Bobby Abreu. This has got to be the veteran presence with post-season experience dumpster dive Walt has been waiting for.

I don't know.

One year, left-handed bat, the Angels are still paying him his salary.

The Reds could certainly do worse.

Redmond back to Louisville, Broxton expected to arrive mid-game. Mez to the 7-day concussion DL, Navarro brought up, Costanzo DFA'd.

I'm really surprised Navarro was brought up and not Corky.
