Its just a night off so Dusty can get Heisey some AB's imo but I agree that .310 OBP for Stubbs just isn't going to cut it leading off. Scary part is what else do you do?

SS is allowed to hit first in Dusty's book but Janish is young and has a reputation as a glove first guy so god only knows how long it would take for him to get a look.

Other than that you have bumpcus. SS, 2b and CF hit leadoff. None of the Reds players who man those positions are true leadoff hitters(but Stubbs is fast despite his height so its his job to lose). That is the conundrum.

Add in Latos, Padres bullpen, and Petco Park. That means the Reds will be lucky to get 3 runs. This one is close to over.

You cannot hand the Padres runs. They suck at hitting.

Thank God for minor miracles. Best first inning this year for Volquez, and it only took the Padres horrible lineup and the national park known as Petco to do it. He also threw under 30 pitches.
