Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

as long as this doesn't become a trend, you had to think they'd have some pretty bad games

Yeah its just one of those nights so far.

The 2 runs in the first were off pretty good pitches, the one in the second was after strike 3 should have been called.

The offensive gaffes piss me off but Kennedy is their ace.

They improved their pen in the offseason but it was beyond fucking horrible last year so lets see what happens if the Reds can keep this close and turn it into a bullpen contest.

Watching on Gameday - this ump is a turd. Sounds like the Reds aren't exactly playing inspired ball, but it also seems like this would be a much different game with consistent and correct ball & strike calls.

For those in the area with nothing to do in the next hour or two, Reds reps are at Cinci/Northern Kentucky Toyota dealerships handing out free Reds tickets to those that stop by and make a donation for Japan disaster relief. Available until 2:00 pm.

Some fun facts after the first 7 games:

-Runs scored
Reds 47
WB's 19

-Team SLG
Reds .496
WB's .282

-Even after the 13 runs allowed last night the Reds team pitching has a better k/9, bb/9 and FIP than the WB's.

-Ryan Franklin is still their closer

-Skip Schumaker is still an everyday player for them

I said it before and I'll say it again, I had the first pick overall in our fantasy league and I took Pujols. I honestly believe that at this point in their respective careers, Votto is the better player, and certainly Votto has the better supporting cast around him to produce gaudy R and RBI numbers. If I was playing it straight I'd take Votto first pick. But I didn't, because I'm the fucking hex-master, so I'm more than willing to tank my fantasy team if it burns the Cardinals. Last year I took Teixeira, and he fell flat on his face out of the gate. The year before that my first pick was Wright, and he of course got beaned and missed a lot of time, and really hasn't ever been the same hitter since.

Through 7 games:

Votto: .407 .485 .741 1.226
Pujols: .179 .226 .286 .512

Suck it, Albert.
