Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

Vin Scully? I'd listen to him read the phone book.

Just got to this thread, and that certainly sounds like Scully. He doesn't work with a color man, and never has any dead air. He prepares like no other announcer, and yes, he does go off on tangents all game long. I actually enjoy it, but it is almost like listening to someone with split personalities. He has his play by play personality, and he has his color commentary personality that chimes in with random info all the time.

We think Marty has been doing the reds for a long time (37 years). Scully has been doing Dodger play by play (and color) for 61 years. Heck, I get nostalgic when I hear him call a game, and that was from his days at NBC will Joe Garagiola. He was an old time vet back then.

Personally, I think he is one of the best. I will actually watch Reds/Dodgers games from the Dodgers feed if I can just to listen to Scully.

BTW...I don't watch, and Reds win. Chalk up a loss today, I will be watching.

ugh, really, both Bruce and Stubbs not playing today? 0 or 1 runs confirmed

Good call. :tongue2:

They're saying Bruce was limping around today - aftermath from the rough slide at the plate last night. Dusty says otherwise - that his bat was slowing down and it was a chance to rest him.

Apparently Stubbs had been predestined to sit today regardless.

It does look like one of BaBoone's Sunday Specials though.

Wood has a WHIP of 2.25 today, which also happens to be his ERA today:

Oops. Make that a WHIP of 2.50!

Before that line-out, LA had sent 22 batters to the plate, and 12 of them had reached base via hit, walk, HBP, or walk. With 1 run to show for it! :slappy:

Now 12 out of 24 have reached.

Holy shit a sweep of the Dodgers in L.A.

Maybe there was something to all that rapture stuff after all? I mean this just isn't possible. 5-2 on a west coast road trip and the two losses could have just as easily been wins (looking at your non base running worthless hide Volquez).

Still plenty of opportunity for plunger raping in the very near future but that wasn't a bad little stretch right there.
