Glad I missed the end and saved myself having to pop the Tums.

I left the room after the 8th since it was time to start our family ritual Saturday Night board game night. I figured you guys would leave me two pages of CoCo play by play. Thanks for not letting me down.

and now a lazy grounder that Ryan would have made in his sleep is turned into an infield single by Theriot because he has no range and no arm.

Then he makes a good play on a ball to catch it, but can't get it out of his glove. 2 men on, no out where it would be no men on, 2 out with Ryan.

I thoroughly enjoy watching the Cards stupid off season moves come back to bite them already.

edit: and both of those guys score. 6-3 Pads. Congrats Cards, brilliant off season.

I didn't see the Cards game, but I'm reading two different things between the box score and the Cards Talk forum.

Cards Talk is practically in full-on meltdown mode already just two games into the season with one poster noting the poor attendance today. Problem is the box score reads 38,527 (87.6% full) in StL this afternoon. Was it that full from what you saw? I'm guessing they'll be riding a lot of corporate sales made in years gone by that become no-shows this season at the gate if their season goes south quick.

Of all the things those clowns ranted about last year, the one that really drove me up the wall was the constant bagging on Cincinnati's attendance numbers, which I think is a non-starter since most people with a functioning brain know the attendance bump comes on season ticket sales the year after a team wins. Fay wrote before the season even began that Cinci's sales were up 10%.

I'd love it if Cinci came close to drawing what the Cards routinely do. Put some money in the coffers and lay the foundation to keep this going through this decade.

I know I have always been pretty subtle about it so you guys may not have picked up on this but one thing that drives me nuts is the scrappy little no talent ass clown and how they are revered in baseball. See Schumaker, Skip Fucking.

Travis Wood is an example of what should be revered, a guy with TALENT that plays all out, plays smart and has that certain something where you can just tell he'd almost rather die out there than lose. Those kind of guys I do admire. Travis Wood reminds me, make up wise, of the Maddux/Herscheiser/Glavin types already.

Its funny a friend and I were talking stats and the usual "if you had 9 player x's in the lineup" stuff came up and after last night I was thinking- If we had 9 Travis Woods in our lineup the Reds would go 162-0, cure cancer, kill Bin Laden and force Superman to stop wearing Tebow Jammies.

No get away day special for teh Dusty today;

Stubbs 8
Phillips 4
Votto 3
Rolen 5
Gomes 7
Bruce 9
Hanigan 2
Janish 6
Arroyo 1

They seem to struggle with Wolf for whatever reason but with Arroyo getting the proper amounts of rest and drugs to recover from his mono its as solid a Sunday effort as you can hope for.

At first I thought for sure we'd see Rolen sitting today. With a day game following a night game, I also figured part of the reason Janish sat yesterday was to keep him fresh and make sure his off-day came at a time where he (and his defensive range) would be back on the field when Rolen sat.

I remember last season the Reds missed a lot of opportunities for series sweeps on getaway days. Right now they have already jumped out to a 2-game lead on their two most serious challengers, both of whom have major injury problems. They have one of those two teams in front of them right now, at home, with a chance to start to bury them early. I know this is only the third game of the season coming up, but I don't think you can let opportunities like these slip away. If you can build an early lead in the division, opportunities to rest guys like Rolen will open up.

BP ditches the high socks for today and gets a hit in his first AB, then allows the Brewers to turn an easy DP on Vottos chopper over the mound by not sliding into 2nd base.
