Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

Why would anyone want david weathers? I wouldn't even claim him if he was a family member of mine.

Eh, he's a decent set-up guy. I wouldn't want to count on him as my closer, not that anybody would be stupid enough to do that, but he's alright for what he is.

On another note, I'm not sure whether to be angry or ecstatic that the one week my wife is out of town and I would be able to sit and watch an entire game, the sucklegs are on the west coast and there's no way I can stay up to watch them.

I guess I should probably be glad.

Matt Kemp for all 3 sounds fair.

Hell I'd even throw in Tavaras and Arroyo if we needed to.

Free preview of MLB extra innings going on and I'm a little under the weatehr so I'm watching the Yankees/O's and they have none other than Heavy Weissen on during a half inning.

They start out saying he's a huge Yankee fan which made me feel better. Then ffter some prodigious ND knob slobbing the lead Yankee announcer asks CW since he's a Yankee fan he's got to be a Paul O'Niell fan and fat boy says "yes".

Announcer : "well he just texted me and says 'sorry Charlie...go Bucks'!"

Weis then says something about typical Buckeye and that is something Vrabel would do to him.

Holy shit. Dodgers run Jason Schmidt out there tonight, who hasn't pitched in about two years, and he serves up an 85mph tater right down broadway on a 3-2 count to Taveras. Willy says, "thankyouverymuch," and puts it over the left field wall - pending review since the ricochet kicked the ball back onto the field.

EDIT: Shit. Umps review rules triple. Looked like HR on the replays.

I saw he was going to start but didn't want to say anything and have him throw a no hitter on us. When Willy Tavaras takes you deep its time to stay retired.

BTW stat line of the night turned in by one of my fantasy mental defectives:

Doug Davis 2.1 IP/8ER/1K
:slappy:

Hairston crushes a double, Votto rips a single. Schmidt well over 20 pitches already with nobody out. God I'd love to see the Reds wreck this bullpen for the series tonight.

Good luck in the GBL with the other washouts like Irabu and Lima, Schmidt. Your stuff ain't MLB quality anymore.

Seems like they could use a starter like Arroyo or Harang.

How about we give them:
Harang
Arroyo
Weathers
Rhodes
Cordero
Tavaras

for:
Kemp and a prospect or two

anyone?

Baserunning gaffe by Phillips on a misplayed ball by Ethier gives away an out, followed by a Nix flyout, a four pitch walk to EE, and foul out by Dickerson. Schmidt already up to about 40 pitches with Reds leading 3-0.

Would be nice to see Micah pitch well tonight. It doesn't amount to much in the sense of the season, but I just want to see the Reds beat these fuckers in LA once before the next decade begins.

I hate that realignment broke up the Dodgers/Reds rivalry. :(

First 3 batters miss hitting 3 homers by ooooh...about 6 total feet. Hairston's was about 2 foot too low and Votto's about 4.

Dodgers playing little league quality defense (I dare say that's an insult to little leagues every where). Phillips costing the Reds an out by loafing it.

What a strange first inning.

And the (not-so-)mustachioed moron is glad that WT hit a triple rather than a rally killer. I've seen to many guys left on 3rd to buy that shit, Chris. :shake:

I shit you not. He said he was glad it was a triple rather than a "rally killer"....his words, not mine.

The justification of getting Schmidt into the stretch is pretty much bullshit, seeing that most pitchers stay in the wind-up with just a man on 3rd.

Lest there be any confusion, the "not-so" refers to the mustachioed part, not the moron part.

And the Reds misplay a flyball of their own.
