Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

Never gonna happen in a Reds uniform.

It has the last two seasons...He has put up very solid numbers...If he has and OPS around .800 like he has the last two seasons he will be just fine...

He is 2-24 on the season which sucks, but he does have 9 walks...He will get it together IMO...

I just dont like his approach to hitting. Its widely known around the league now according to some scouts through MLB.com that E5 cannot handle a pitch on the outer portion of the plate. The HR against Lyons was a fluke and a mistake on Lyons part. After the game he said that it just left his hand wrong as he was working the outside of the plate and it rode in where E5 got it.

If Edwin made more contact even on his outs I would be more inclined to say that he is in a slump, such as Dunn currently is. Edwin rarely makes great contact on the ball which is not a good sign to me. I wish he would pull it together and put up the numbers that the Reds need him to but I dont see it happening. I know Adam Dunn wishes he'd get it together so that he could see some decent pitches once in a while as well.

We shall see...I was just merely pointing out your comment about EE never putting it together in a reds uni, and i htink the past two year he has had some good years, so I would already consider him a success, and hope for him to put up numbers like that this year...If they know how to pitch him, it doesn't make since to walk him so much tho...

I agree about EE striking fear to the other team to allow Dunn to get better pitchers, and I am hoping he can do that...

EE has a career OPS just a shade under .800 with this being his 3rd full season at the MLB level all before he turns 25. He is just slumping right now, he will be fine. Brantly and Marty need a whipping boy and its EE's turn since they seem to have laid off Dunn for whatever reason.

It isn't widely known that he can't handle an outside pitch, people throw it out there because like a lot of young players he will chase breaking balls on the outside half.

The only person I have heard say anything about EE and the outside pitch is Chris Welsh and if you want to convert his pearls of wisdom into something being "widely known around MLB" then nothing anyone else can say is going to have an effect.

Just remember that if Marty/Welsh/Grande/Brantly were doing football you'd be hearing a lot about SEC speed and how slow OSU was. Just because they are calling the games doesn't make what they say neccessarily so.

Patterson might have some big hits, but his OBP still sucks for a lead off guy...(.261)...Just wow...

:sick1:

The absence of timely base hits continues to plague this organization in the first 8 games. Just like the last X years. :smash:

And lord knows the team ERA won't be at 3.61 all season.
