I'm posting this thread not so much because of its MLS impact, but moreso because of the implications it could have for the U.S. MNT and particularly its appearances in Columbus.

Red Bull New York will be opening a new stadium in Harrison, NJ (right outside of Newark) for the 2010 season. I drive past it almost every day on the way to work. It looks like its going to be really nice, and will seat 25,000+ people. I wish they would have made it about 10k seats bigger for national team purposes, but oh well.

interesting. generally speaking it is most beneficial fo us soccer to have many venues to play at across the country to continue to grow the sport.

Wow, didn't realize they were so far into building RBA. I hope they end up having real grass there, because the astroturf they play on currently is terrible.

Columbus will always get their MNT games. They might not always get the US/Mexico game (which would make the Mexicans happy), but US Soccer knows that there is no better place for homefield advantage than when they hold a game in Columbus. They know they vast majority of the crowd will be a rowdy pro american one and they know its gonna be a sellout every time.
