unfortunately it looks more and more like 'bravefan's' post would come true..what's their motivation? why don't they go and attack OU or some SEC schools..? it's not like osu players are the only ones who get stuff from booster's..fuck ESPN...boycott gameday

Everyone should relax. ESPN has nothing new. This all stale news from the past. When it's over, ESPN is going to look like the idiots that they are.
While we may believe this (and I do believe your statement), what about the kids that we are recruiting not only this year but next year and the year after that? How many of them watch ESPN religiously and believe what is reported there? What OSU needs to do is be very proactive in defending the program; trot out the NCAA investigative report from last year and call a presser; make it a news "event". The worst thing OSU can do is be quiet; they need to vigorously defend themselves against this type of yellow journalism.

And if they do set up Gameday in Columbus next week for The Game, I will be very very disappointed to see "fans" around the set cheering. If there are any fans around the set, the consistent boos and catcalls should be deafening.

This is the one of the big ones I was worried about -- it just hit the website tonight. It's not quite as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it's still bad. And yet again, it's on the front page of espn.com, for all the whole world to see.

This has gone beyond ugly. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>I don't like the 'one of the big ones' part..hopefully this is the last story on espn about this non-issue

ESPN on Gameday at tOSU will be mugged by the fans if they don't get police protection.

tressel needs to come out in a press conference and tell everybody everything he has ever done that is public knowledge. they are just bringing up old info to make the idiots think this is more dirt that nobody knows about. cut them off before they get that far.

What a waste of internet space. That article was full of hearsay, generalizations, and information taken out of context to demonize Jim Tressel. They mention, in the article of course--not on television where the rest of the world hears it, the YSU booster was "chairman of the university's board of trustees" and "he wanted me to be introduced to Ray and to work out some kind of job for him." On television, they make it sound like Monus was just some businessman, and fan, who was told to give his money to this quarterback. What a bunch of trash.

ESPN is making an effort to demonize Jim Tressel, call it a counter-offensive to the aggressive denials Geiger has made. Did anyone hear that dipshit Clarett talking about all of the starters receiving benefits? What a load of horseshit. That defies all logic. Only the casual fan and the complete neanderthal have believed a word they've said. Hopefully those of you in Columbus will make our emotions felt for Gameday. I don't want to hear a single word coming out of Corsos mouth.

Guys some of you may remember me talking about this on BN last year...

For those of you who don't. I worked with Ray Isaac last year. He was employed by my school district in a mentoring program called MAPPS...abstinence, drugs, honor, etc. Anyway, Ray always told me to keep looking for his interview with ESPNmag in the Clarett saga. He thought they were simply comparing his saga with that of Clarett's in a fallen star sort of motif...then he got antsy when they kept asking questions about JT. He kept telling them that JT was almost naive when it came to things like this...he was also very careful in protecting his secrets. He had a car to tool around campus in...a beater, byt also had a sweet ride to take out on the town. He swore that JT never knew anything about it and telling him was the hardest thing he ever had to do. Of course I called bullshit on it...then he broke out campus numbers on his cell phone. They matched JT's extensions that I looked up in the directory at tOSU. Then he gave me a package of personalized signed items from JT.

Obviously, ESPN misled Ray Isaac in their intentions also.

Take this or leave it, passed along to me:

The "source" has stated ESPNs next step is to prove Tressel is indeed behind it all through paper and/or tape recordings.

Whether it will pan out is another thing.
I'll keep trying to keep those interested informed.

It's believed the ENTIRE story will be revealed throughout the weekend, ending with Outside The Lines.

I'm pretty excited for this weekend, in every sense of the word (anticipation, fear, adrenaline, etc). Because I really doubt ESPN has this smoking gun given how they have reported thus far.
Why would they use such crappy witnesses, or go thru someone like Clarett to start it off? Why the need to misquote Robert Smith and Marco Cooper? Why not leave the country in suspense all week, building a strong case for both sides, then light OSU on fire with this key piece of evidence?

Either way, I think ESPN is gonna look like a bunch of fudge packers for this. If the evidence was all compiled and saved for sweeps week, I think that will make them look pretty shoddy even if ti does turn out to be true. And if it doesn't, people will not want to watch ESPN anymore with their agenda against OSU. They'll want the updates about OSU, but want them as the end of the show wrapup instead of replacing highlights throughout the show.

How anyone can say that ESPN is not on a witch hunt is beyond me.

They are going out of their way to TRY to find anything they can to smear Jim Tressel's name.

This report was all public knowledge around Youngstown when it happened. There is nothing new here, but ESPN is acting like they are breaking the story.

Gameday needs to go down in flames if they have the balls to show up.
