Antonio Pittman: Slasher who is OSU's leading rusher. 381 yards, averaged 5.3 yards, 1 TD last year. Ability to make tacklers miss and get around the corner and has decent hands. Wore down as season went on and his work ethic has been questioned. Seemed hungry in spring and is his job to lose.

Erik Haw: Fast than Pittman and much more of a threat to take it to the house. Showed ability to stay strong later in games. Bigger than Pittman, but doesn't seem to like to run inside as much. Straight ahead runner and is not as good in open space but is quick to the hole. Plays with a chip on his shoulder, but the pot bust will probably keep him off the field for at least the Miami game.

Maurice Wells: The quickest and most elusive of the tailbacks, but also the smallest. Able to get to top gear in a flash. Should challenge for playing time but injury concerns (small size) and lack of knowledge of the playbook may keep him off the field.

Anderson Russel: Potential, a load to bring down, nice combo of power and speed but isnt a home run threat or a shifty back. Almost always gains positive yardage. Seen as a DB coming in, but may get time on offense due to lack of depth.

</td></tr></tbody></table><!-- End Schnittker Image-->Brandon Schnittker: No carries last year, but a great blocker. Could line up as a single back in short yardage. Could provide outlet underneath for QB's. Not fancy, but can provide vertran leadership and may be named captain.

Dionte Johnson: Great blocker, decent speed, but no threat of going all the way. Best as lead running right at a LB. Will battle Schnittker for the starting job.

OVERALL: Backfield may keep OSU from being a top five team. Theres talent, but it is almost all unproven. Looks like it will be a by committee approach unless someone elevates his play. The line should be better, meaning the backs will be expected to be good. Someone need to step up if the Bucks are going to be contenders.

PRESEASON GRADE -- C+

Anderson Russell is considered by many to be the sleeper of this recruiting class. Another potential sleeper is James Aston, the wrestler out of Katy High School in Texas, who doesn't even get a mention on this list. While he is certainly a long shot, when you read what those who know him and who have seen him say on his recruiting thread, we shouldn't count this kid out.
