RB Maurice Clarett (B1G Freshman of the Year, National Champion)

Just heard the same thing on the radio. What an idiot...

Police: Former OSU star Clarett arrested with 4 guns in SUV

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Former Ohio State football standout Maurice Clarett tussled with police during a traffic stop early Wednesday before officers discovered four loaded guns in his sport utility vehicle, a police spokesman said.

Officers used Mace to subdue Clarett after a stun gun was ineffective because the suspect was wearing a bullet-resistant vest, Sgt. Michael Woods said.

"It took several officers to get him handcuffed. Even after he was placed in the paddy wagon he was still kicking at the doors and being a problem for the officers," Woods said.

Clarett, 22, is currently awaiting trial on two counts of aggravated robbery, four counts of robbery and one count of carrying a concealed weapon in a separate case. Authorities said he was identified by witnesses as the person who flashed a gun and robbed two people in an alley behind a Columbus bar early Jan. 1.

Clarett scored the winning touchdown for Ohio State in the 2002 national championship game as a freshman, but never played for Ohio State again. He sat out the 2003 season after being charged with misdemeanor falsification on a police report, then dropped out of school. He sued to be included in the 2004 NFL draft and lost in court.

A surprise third-round pick in the 2005 draft, he was cut by the Denver Broncos during the preseason.

No doubt. You don't go out for leisurely cruises in the middle of the night wearing a bullet proof vest and armed with 4 loaded guns. He was either coming from somewhere, or headed to somewhere that was bad news.....

HOLY F'N!

I admit it. I'm an IDIOT because this shocked me! Not that I didn't believe just about every accusation every rendered against MoC, but that I didn't think he'd be able to take his stupidity to this level...I was SO wrong! His stupidity is boundless (as I'm sure most of you picked up on years ago). But the eternally optimistic dumbass that I am wanted him to make something of himself. It didn't even have to be NFL, CFL, or whatever the hell the league (the HITMEN...IT'S A NICKNAME MAURICE, you asswipe) is he WAS trying out for. Just fade out of the 'loser thug' spotlight, make a simple life for yourself and have the memory that you once won a National Championship with the best team in the best game in college football.

The dude just needs to go to jail for a very long time to not only protect the general public, but protect himself from himself.

Here are a few more details of the incident.....

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police said they used Mace and a Taser gun to arrest former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett Wednesday morning after they found an arsenal of weapons inside an SUV he was driving.

Clarett was taken into custody at about 3 a.m. in a restaurant's parking lot off Brice Road following a brief chase, NBC 4's David Wayne reported.

Police said they spotted an SUV that was driving erratically along Brice Road and then followed it as it drove onto Interstate 70, Wayne reported.

The SUV was then seen making a U-turn along the interstate. Officers placed stop-sticks on the road but the SUV continued driving and exited along Brice Road, Wayne reported.

Despite a flat tire, the vehicle then struck a police cruiser in a the parking lot of a Tee Jaye's Country Place restaurant, located at 2435 Brice Rd., where Clarett was taken into custody, Wayne reported.

"I saw the car come over here in the Tee Jaye's lot and actually bump into the cruiser," said a witness who requested anonymity. "He didn't want to stop."

"(Clarett) was resisting to the point that they felt it was necessary to try to use a Taser," said Columbus police Sgt. Mike Woods. "He had a bulletproof vest on and the Tasers would not penetrate that, so they used Mace. It took several officers to get his arms behind his back and get him under control and handcuffed."

Police then found an arsenal of weapons inside the SUV, including a loaded assault rifle and handgun. A hatchet, clothing and an open bottle of vodka were also taken from the vehicle, Wayne reported.

The SUV was registered to Clarett's uncle, Wayne reported.

Clarett was scheduled to appear in court later on Wednesday for a status hearing regarding an aggravated robbery charge. He is scheduled to go on trial next Monday stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred early on New Year's Day outside a Columbus bar.

You steel yourself for the inevitable trial coverage, then this.
Completely unbelievable, MoC is surely a suitable candidate for treatment. A sane person does not do this on the eve of a trial date for robbery charges.
