What I don't understand is: Do NFL teams even care about the character of these players? Or are they drafting based on pure potential?
I don't understand how a team could look at MoC, look at the shit he talked about his school, look at WHY he was suspended, look at his QUITTING attitude, and then take him with their third round pick?
I just don't understand. Maybe its because I'm not a mover+shaker in the NFL.
Shanahan must feel extremely confident about his position within the organization. Imagine the conversation that took place to let the owner know that he was going to pick Clarett.
Say what you want about this pick, but I think its a great move by Denver. Anybody else remember the 2002 MoC? When he was healthy, he was one of the best college backs I had seen in a long time as TRUE FRESHMAN. If they can get him to just shut up and play, this is a major coup. If not, its the last pick in a very long 3rd round, big deal. I wish him the best, and hope he has finally grown up.
I have always said that MoC would be a steal...no matter what round he went. The guy is a special running back. I hate just about everything that he has done off the field, but I want him in my backfield. Denver made a wise choice.
It will be interesting to see if he he really has matured and puts his past in the past, or if he begins to spout off again about OSU since he has nothing to lose now.
Good get by Denver..... Although he did alot to this school he still has tons of talent and I dont' think anyone can argue that. With Denvers zone blocking scheme he'll have good cut backs lanes with that vision of his.
1. Clarett's work ethic is about as crappy as any i've ever seen. The guy wants things handed to him, and I really don't think he has it in him to work as hard as he needs to do withstand what it takes to be an NFL back.
2. Clarett has yet to have a full season of organized football in which he hasn't gotten injured. He's the most injury prone football player ever. I don't think his body could take as much pounding as it did in the NFL.
3. Too many good RBs left (Darren Sproles, TA MacLendon) to take Clarett at this point. He likely would have been around for their next pick, and I feel like his top potential at this point couldn't be any better then these other backs.
